enginelane
Great entertainment and drama once more last night and all from a Model Railway! If the TV programme does not float your boat then Wakefield has some doyens of the prototype/ model world exhibiting this year.
Gavin Liddiard
Mostyn is now packed ready for next weekend. Regarding my last posting, here is a pic of the packed stock boxes. That's 112 lever arch file boxes for rolling stock (with foam linings and dividers) and 10 for road vehicles, packed in 17 really useful boxes (64L & 84L). Cheers Mostyn stock boxes. enginelane
Pleased you are able to join us in our 60 th year . Saw the layout at Ally Pally earlier this year. Lost count of the road traffic jam!
enginelane
Not a good day yesterday as woke up to find could not move left arm up any further than elbow height — old mountain bike injury I think has returned. When went to doctors years ago and asked what could be done his response was — fall off onto the other shoulder! This morning feels a little better, feels like something has popped back in again so can get on with the final week list. Good to see positive comments as a result of the GMRC and Wakefield hoping for a slice of that action as well. Layouts assembled for this year to come to the exhibition do not come cheap and it’s been all in for the exhibition team in straining the budget to cover the up front costs! Weather looks good Exhibition weather, have an excellent venue, free car parking, extra toilets and excellent trade support so if you have not been to Wakefield why not make it next weekend and if you do come every year, thanks and we will be delighted to see you again! enginelane
It’s into the final countdown with only 5 days to the start of the show, will Wakefield bring their ambitious plans together and wow the judges with .... sorry wrong programme. But it is a stellar line up of layouts already busy packing boxes and checking out connections so remember on your calendar Wakefield 16/1718 th November

enginelane
Getting to the venue. Northern will be running a reduced service and website points to checking on Saturday which services are running. It is not possible to post which are running or not. The following buses pass the gates to the Sports Centre. 268a 127 104 231 These buses go from Wakefield Bus Station or travelling via Wakefield Westgate on leaving the station walk to the right down the hill towards Westgate. You will pass the Art House on your left and the Wakefield Civil Justice Building on your right. The bus stop is across the road W8. If walking is about 1 mile from Wakefield Westgate. Turn right out of the Station down to Westgate along the A 638 and onto the A642 towards Horbury. Gates on the left into the sports grounds. Reminder we cannot put up direction signs. Entrance is on Horbury Road. Car park on left. There are limited disabled spaces available. Larger car park further up the road in the College Grounds. 5050
For all the bargain hunters out there, I am informed that there will be an extensive selection of boxed (and probably unrun or tested only) Bachmann/Hornby locos and rolling stock on the club sales stand. These include BR liveried ex-LMS and BR Standard classes, all part of the large collection of a late friend. With other items that I know will also be available, the choice this year will be terrific! Plus my meagre offerings......................

(still not worked out what the route difference is!). 232 is also a Huddersfield bus which (I think) alternates with the 231. (Note to self - must check the latest timetables!) Wheatley
Strike timetables for 17th now on Northern's website: https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/strike Roughly hourly services Sheffield - Kirkgate - Leeds and Doncaster - Westgate - Leeds but with gaps for the conductors' PNB. LNER has engineering work further south which may affect services but Journey Planner currently shows at least some Leeds - London services operating. XC should be operating as normal to/from Westgate.

enginelane
Getting very close now and the list of things to do and check gets shorter and then longer every day! It’s a quality show for a good price with weather set fine. If you cannot come Saturday because of the Northern Strike then why not try Sunday if at all possible. enginelane
Busy day with first load going up to the venue this evening ready for an early start tomorrow. With layouts such as Mostyn coming it’s a three day show for members and exhibitors due to set up times but it will be worth it! A big thank you now in anticipation of the work that members exhibitors and traders will put in over the next three days to stage the show at Wakefield. If you are still not sure if you are coming then make it a yes! Edited November 15, 2018 by enginelane
sir douglas
a walking route from westgate station to the bus stop (45018408), there is a bus stop just before the front gates at thornes park (45022238) or just after (45022240), both are equal distance to the gates, the 2 blur routes to avoid versus the right ones
Gavin Liddiard
Mostyn is now loaded in it's 7 tonne truck ready for the trip over the Pennines in the morning. Let's hope the traffic in Liverpool is light at 6am. Cheers, Gavin
