RMweb Gold ianLMS Posted October 26, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 26, 2018 I know there are already topics covering the Stove R but I didnt want to hijack them. I have just finished building my Comet Stove R for my layout, Jencaster. I was generally happy with how the build went - nothing too difficult, although the centre wheel was very awkward. I fitted bearings in the supplied U channel and ran the axle through that which seemed to help with lateral as well as vertical movement. I havent fully tested it around the layout yet but will soon. Hopefully it will run fine. I was a little dissappointed with the roof etc, but again, I am fairly happy with the outcome. Painted with my airbrush (Sparmax MAX 4) using Railmatch Crimson Lake over etched primer follwed by a coat of Citadel Red base layer. Lining/Numbering was from the HMRS pressfix sheets. Glazing is real glass microscope slide covers cut with a diamond cutting tool. Not easy, very fiddly but I think they look good. Superglue was not the right adhesive to use, so in future projects I will stick to Micro kristal-klear. The instructions were ok, but I found it difficult to get decent information online or from my limited library. I found enough images on RMWeb and from other sources which helped fill in a few gaps. Not entirely sure if I have the beading or lining correct, but it looks ok to me. 4
