Andy Y

IRM To Produce CIE A/001 Class Locomotive

Recommended Posts

Fantastic pics from Andy of the A class, they clear up so many concerns I had a about the shape from previous pics. The shape of this is well and truly captured and must have been a challenge to get the cab profile just right. Any chance they can be reposted up on the IRM forums?

I saw the A class this week and the shape looks spot on. Very different from the old resin versions I was used to seeing. This model definitely captures the look of the A class.

No. Though we plan to sound record one for Crossley goodness.... :)

I have found references to sound, but nothing that says it will be fitted before purchase. Is this going to be an aftersales option and, if not, when will we ba able to order sound fitted models? Of course, it's quite possible that all this has been discussed somewhere else and I've misssed it, so I apologise now if that's the case. It would be nice if my bubbles had something noisy at the front . . . . . .

Hi Mick,

All locos will arrive DC/DCC ready, with the chip sold separately. The speakers will be pre-installed in all locos, so all you will have to do is pop the roof off, and plug the chip in.

Cheers!

Hnnng...not my era/region, and I don't need an A class.

Just like I didn't need a Bulleid diesel, or a Cromption, or a Western, or...

But they will need to go a long way to beat this when their next model comes out.

Hi everyone,

Many thanks for your kind words!

Today's reveal is A12 in CIE black with yellow ends, as it ran in the mid 60s. Almost BR-esque livery wise! Pre-ordering available on our website direct.

Enjoy!

Fantastically well detailed model, but still cannot make my mind up if I like the styling - more Marmite than Marmite itself!!

Fran, and all the people at Accurascale / IRM

May I say that, not only are your models excellent, but the whole professionalism of your organisation is fantastic and to be admired.

I'm particularly struck by the photographic quality of the pictures you've provided. Crisp and all in focus, well lit, no distracting background. This I've also noted in your CAD drawings, again concise, consistently informative and very clear images.

For what's it worth, well done from me.

I'm looking forward to see the other liveries over the next few days, as I'll certainly be ordering one (or two).

Many thanks for that! We had a long search for a good photographer but we are delighted we finally found someone who takes superb shots and also is reliable! They really help show the model off we feel and are delighted!

Thanks for that!

Cheers,

Fran

Did I read those immortal words "rotating axlebox hubs"?

Have you observed / encountered any difficulties with these - not bringing to mind any other particular product of course?   !!!

Hi Al,

A number of our wagons have them and no problems with them so far. The odd one will fall off, but we do provide spares in a baggy.

Only some of the A Classes have them, the later GM rebuilds. Our test sample has proven them to be reliable with testing so far, but there will be more testing done before production is given full go ahead.

Cheers,

Fran
