Does that include the time to remove the body?

You don't need to; a fingernail under the side of the silencer, flip the roof panel off. Switch blanking plug for decoder. Pop roof back on. Takes longer to type than do.

If you do want to get the body off to fit a crew it's four easily accessed screws and off it comes. It couldn't really be any easier.

Access with thought - now that's novel!

Thank you for clarifying.

Hopefully there'll be similar thought in the designs of the forthcoming 37, 55 and 92.

absolutely. All of our models feature commonality of access and feature.

Hi everyone,

Many thanks for your interest and kind words on the As. With them being our first locomotive to market they will offer you an insight into what all our locomotives will be like going forward. As @AY Mod said, this is a preview into the Deltics, 92s and 37s!

One A Class variant we never showed at decoration stage was A42 in green. The decorated shell we got was a bit wrong to say the least, but after sorting out the decoration with China we got it looking ship-shape as it should be. Check it out!

This is modelled as original condition with Crossley powerplant (same as the COBOs of course) and painted green, which it would've worn from late 50s-mid 60s era,

More to reveal as the week goes by!

You can order any of the As which have yet to sell out (3 gone so far!) and not worry about any VAT/import hidden charges. Just order via https://irishrailwaymodels.co.uk/collections/locomotives/locomotive-class_a-class? and it will be dispatched to you within the UK via royal mail!

Cheers!

Hi everyone,

We decided to keep it green today with the revealing of A46 in dark green with pinstriping. Doesnt it look wonderful? One of the classiest liveries to ever adorn these lovely locomotives.

A46 is somewhat endangered sales wise with not many left. So, if you fancy one, we're advise grabbing it sooner than later. Order below:

Hi everyone,

After green, things became a bit dark for the As. Well, black really! We've two black beauties for you today, A55 in all over black and A12 which seemed to copy BR practice and gain yellow ends at each end!

A55

And A12, which is a bit of a personal favourite of mine...

Regarding the slightly wavy handrails,  we have instructed the factory to improve the packaging protection in this area which they are doing to prevent the bending in these pics. This will also include the tablet catchers being in the correct position too as the ones on A12 got a bit bent as can bee seen.  They are also improving the yellow end on A12 to take care of any fuzziness.

Grab them both here, folks! Perfect haulers of our grey bubbles, CIE cravens and more... https://irishrailwaymodels.co.uk/collections/locomotives/locomotive-class_a-class?

Hi everyone,

SILVER MACHINE!

Ever wanted to hitch a ride on a silver machine? Check out our model of A30 in original silver livery, featuring snails! The silver livery certainly has presence and must've been a very impressive sight when they took to the rails in 1955 on test runs out of Inchicore. Of course, they didnt stay clean for very long at all, but that's a whole other story!

We will have photos of special edition A1 in the coming days, but for now check out A30! The snails were plates on the real locomotives and we have you covered with etched snails in the detail back, along with etched Metropolitan Vickers builders plates on A30 and other locos too!

We'll have a final landing date next week, just looking for a container!

One of the iconic A Class liveries, which heralded a new and optimistic age for Irish railways, the Supertrain livery is a must for anyone modelling the early 1970s-late 1980s. Check out 018 in this classic paint scheme.

Tempted? Perfect for a lot of our freight stock, including our forthcoming blue Taras, or equally at home on a rake of Mark 2s or Cravens, the SuperTrain As are a must for any Irish modeller. Grab yours here: https://irishrailwaymodels.co.uk/collections/locomotives/locomotive-class_a-class?

Hi everyone,

So, now for one variant which we reckon will be super popular; IR with dayglo panels as adorned by 036 and 054.

1713654802_4(21).jpg.f26bc7cf890d8bcd1c38a490421784c0.jpg

1748844760_8(11).jpg.31f063d3404d51f42cd08c39028eae59.jpg

One thing we missed on the initial design and tooling for the As was the cut out for the fuel gauge along the side, which many members of the class including 036 and 054 gained later in life. As you can see, we went back and corrected this to ensure we offer a clean sweep of A variants.

334915945_10(10).jpg.b9c3533136bb22bf01477cd75409de6d.jpg1991286614_1(19).jpg.fcc6ef3aa2cb6ece5a8e6aa240557282.jpg

We have asked the factory to make several corrections to make them acceptable. They are currently working on this but it will take another 2 weeks to finish, after that they head our way so will now land with us in late August. We're probably getting very pedantic at this stage, but we just want them to be the very best they can be.

568470902_5(20).jpg.532d01e6302522f0f0ac1b7434998d97.jpg

These are endangered species, with 054 already sold out. So, if you want to get 036 for some dayglo loveliness, don't hang about! Order here: https://irishrailwaymodels.co.uk/collections/locomotives/availability_pre-order?

Cheers!

Hi Mark,

As per my post above yesterday

Hi everyone,

One delight we have yet to show off is our special edition class leader; A1. We decided to make this one a bit special, with limited edition certificate, 250 pieces and a wooden presentation box. It represents the loco in as delivered condition in 1955 complete with sandboxes. Check it out.

Case5.jpg.ef508a87b167190002404ee229ff8f1c.jpg

Case4.jpg.e01353a81270e392c1aace43b5ba2d81.jpg

Case1.jpg.673ce448898b7f522fe8a23ed6a27813.jpg

Remember, this locomotive is only available via IRM direct and strictly limited to 250 pieces. As we all know, Irish locos tend to appreciate in value, so this represents a great investment opportunity as much as something very special. Reserve yours today: https://irishrailwaymodels.co.uk/collections/locomotives/products/a1-a-class-locomotive
