Wakefield kirkgate.

Recommended Posts

Has anyone got some good steam era pictures of Wakefield kirkgate station signal box and buildings including the Subway area and at the other end the goods area. Any pics/links will be greatly received.

There are plenty of modern pictures and from the he 80s on Flickr so I have a good idea. Just want to get the under canopy details right.

The reason: Im currently planning to build a station based on Wakefield and would like to be as accurate as possible with the buildings.

Regards Paul

It might be an idea to contact Wakefield Railway Modellers Society, one of their members has done a book about Wakefield's Railways and knows a lot of the local photogrpahers and may be able to help you.   Their website is www.wakefieldrms.org and there is a contact form.   It's their 60th exhibition this month and it would be worth your while going along and chatting to members.

Many thanks for posting those links - going through them I'm reminded just what a fantastic collection John Turner of 53A Models has, it's a while since I've looked at any of them but there's a lot of very inspirational stuff for the banger blue era modeller, particularly 'oop the north'.
