NoelG
Video Clip 121 class DCC sound EDIT: Sound Level of music lowered Edited November 5, 2018 by NoelG
SRman
The sound seems good, and the video is excellent but could I make one suggestion, Noel? A video to demonstrate the loco sounds really could do without the music. I hope you will accept this as intended constructively and in no way denigrating what you have achieved. A video to demonstrate the loco sounds really could do without the music. I hope you will accept this as intended constructively and in no way denigrating what you have achieved. Sure no problem. This clip was more to demonstrate my finally completed B121 than sound, but I'll post up a 'sound' demo in a few days without background music.
SRman
I'll look forward to that, Noel.Incidentally. I started a topic just for anyone to post DCC sound videos. The idea was to allow others to judge whether given sound projects suited their needs, considering the expense of buying sounds and the possibility that they may not like them after all. One of these days, when I have time (after I retire, maybe), I'll try to create an index of what videos and sounds are in the topic. I would welcome your videos in there too. That does not have to replace your own topics with them in as well - there is room for both ways.http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/78924-dcc-sound-videos/page-22I have been nurturing a bit of interest in the Irish diesels and practice, and I do like what you have done with your 121. I've edited that video clip above with the piano music level now set lower I will post a new video just demonstrating the DCC sound functions later in the week without music track. I've posted a few of my past video to your link above. They have music tracks and accompanying sounds in addition to the DCC sound tracks from the various locos. NoelG
Hi Kieran et al. As requested: Revised 121 class DCC sound demo without a musical backing track. Demonstrates some of the specific sound functions. The one function I forgot to record was heavy notching and trashing as a heavy trains slowly accelerates from stationary. The LokSound project is by http://wheeltappersdccsounds.co.uk who do all the Irish sound projects for DCkits. I bought my 141/181 decoders direct from Wheeltappers. I will also be getting my existing ESU/MM 071 sound chips re-blown by 'wheeltappers' so I can get 'PowerDrive' mode, control over notching and the extra functions. Enjoy This LokSound V4 project has 'PowerDrive' capability (i.e. ESU FullThrottle mode) which allows coasting/braking and switching between automatic and manual control of notching. F5 can be used to 'lock' the loco at whatever its current speeds is, including stationary, and throttle control then only controls notching sounds. F5 can be toggled iteratively on/off to simulate heavy trains starting off with poor acceleration causing engine thrashing, and likewise coasting at speed and to simulate long distance braking at idle.

NoelG
Two photos. Photo below of 121 class era and livery I was attempting to capture with the model in the 2nd pic below. NoelG
More 121s on the workbench production line. Athearn SW1500 donor, almost seems a shame but the prize are more 121s running on a superb precision chassis, super smooth runners, DCC ready and wired for lights. NoelG
Rough sketch of plastic card parts needed to make mounts in the 3D 121 body shell for the Athearn SW1500 chassis. I just found this last night as I needed it for the next batch of locos I am working on. Use in conjunction with photos above. Once added to the inside of the body shell the body should friction fit snuggly on the Athearn chassis.
