Have only just discovered the joys of RMweb  :sungum: so time to add my two pennies worth …

I'm focussing on Chinese prototypes around the 2000s and have a portable "exhibition" layout - Ni-Hao - and a running layout in the garage. Neither as grand as Paul Stapleton's Beijiao though.

I keep an updated blog at https://nihao87.wordpress.com/ if anyone is interested.

Cheers

Hello Mark, I remember seeing Ni-Hao on the China Rail International Forum, I for one am pleased to see it again.

Blimey!

Chinese HO layouts are becoming 'two a penny' - soon you won't be able to go to a show without seeing at least one!  :jester:

Paul,

If only they were 2 a penny … my bank account tends to think otherwise ;-)

We’ve had persistent rain for 2 weeks now and Sunday’s forecast is not good. Therefore we’ve decided to leave the conservatory available for shelter and not show NiHao. It also hasn’t helped that I’ve knackered a toe so am not particularly mobile. Apologies to anyone who was planning to come along specifically for NiHao. If you let me know and I should be able to arrange a private viewing sometime.

This year has seen work on a 3rd layout started. The intention is to produce something portable, but operationally interesting. I've ended up with a variation on the US goods yard layout but hopefully reasonably "Chinafied" ;-)

Most of the structures are 3D printed and I've used static grass for the first time, which has dramatically improved ground cover. However, the real challenge will to get a realistic back drop which will paint in some gritty industrial landscape (well, that's the plan anyway).

Cheers

You know what the problem is with Chinese layouts? Once you've seen one it isn't very long before you want another.

Best wishes
