Thanks Mick. Found some photos of VTG Blue JNA-Ts running behind EWS/DB 66s.

Lots of the blue ones are in use with DB. We have two sets of 20 engaged on Burngullow- Bow sand traffic

Thanks Jo. Good to know that the VTG Blue ones are used with GBRf & EWS/DB 66s at the helm. It provides more flexibility when modelling trains and it means that when I do buy some the wagons will see more use.

As RMWebbers know, I like lists of facts.

Astra Rail has built four very similar aggregate wagons under UIC 'Ealnos', I have looked on TOPS and collected the following facts from contacts.

The first Ealnos order was a UK TOPS JNA-T for Ermewa/Tarmac 8170 5500 000-to-073 and later order 8170 5500 229-252 with design code JN062A, these are of the 9 pillar without door. They are separated into 48x Ermewa/Tarmac (000-025/030/034-053), operated by DB Cargo, and 50x Ermewa (026-029/031-033/054-073/229-252), operated by GB Railfreight.

Next up, DB Schenker (at the time) bought their own Ealnos wagons from Astra rail. As these are private owners, the code changed on TOPS to reflect this as 166x MMA-A 8170 5500 074-163 and 8170 5500 378-453. They have been built in two batches under design code MM001A with 9 pillars and a sweep door.

The next order changed the design to 11 pillar boxes but still UK TOPS JNA-T for VTG 8170 5500 164-228 and 8170 5500 253-377 with respective design codes JN063A (Mendip) and JN063B (VTG). They are separated into 65x Mendip Rail (164-228), operated by Mendip Rail (DB and soon to be Freightliner), 40x GB Railfreight (unbranded in GBRf Blue) (253-292), operated by GB Railfreight and 85x DB Cargo (unbranded in VTG Blue) (293-377).

I do not know which ones Revolution are doing, as the image is too small to read the number. In my copy of Model Rail, the colour does look like it is VTG Blue (293-377).

Last to order the Ealnos, though bought outright they have not been coded private owners MMA-A but as JNA-T is GB Railfreight 50x 8170 5500 454-503 under design code JN063C with a sweep door.

Those with eyes to happening on the railways shall notice that Ermewa have bought more Ealnos under design code JN063C and operated by GB Railfreight (505-604). These are 11 pillar boxes in GB Railfreight blue with Ermewa branding and are to be used for East-West Railway Company work: https://www.railjournal.com/freight/gb-railfreight-receives-new-wagons-from-greenbrier/

HS2 contracts should be let shortly, so one would expect more Ealnos boxes...

Thanks mate. Really appreciate all of the information. It's good to have this information because it means the less knowledgeable about wagons like me can refer to it and they might actually understand what others are talking about haha.

Right where were we.

All wagons have continental style numbers in the format 705500336-9. On TOPS you lose the dash before the check digit, and I'll quote the last four digits so for example this wagon I will list as 3369.

Same set went up loaded behind 60039 to Acton from Westbury last night, where it was swapped for a 66. This was due to issues with the booked 66. 60039 returned light to Westbury.

Thanks very much @Steadfast for producing the whole list of the wagons used on the sand train. It is very useful information and now i know which ones i've seen to the ones that are in use for this traffic.

The MMAs have arrived with us and have been checked and sorted.

The GBRF and MRL versions are already on a lorry to Cornwall.

we are just awaiting batteries for the tail lamp fitted versions before the wagons go on sale/ start being shipped.

Hi Gareth,

Have these been despatched yet? If not how do I go about altering my delivery address as due to a change in work I'm no longer at my original address!!

Thanks in advance

Dave

Overnight, I've received notification that the order has been fully processed.

So I expect to see them in the next few days.

(Maybe in time for a test run at Wigan ex this weekend...………..)

I received my rake of 10 MMA's late last week. Very impressed with them, well worth the wait.

Posted a few pics and a vid of them running on my Twitter account.

Did have a slight issue with one wagon though, the bogie wasn't quite square so one wheelset just dropped straight out. Some of the other bogies did have a bit of 'slop' in them, with wheels having a few mil of play compared to others on the same wagon. Nothing that impacted on the flawless running though!

These are the most expensive wagons I've ever bought and my pensioner's budget can only extend to buying a couple at the moment.  I hope to buy more later

Ordered from Trains for U, they arrived this morning and are excellent with superb detailing.

They will look great on the  'pop up' aggregates terminal I'm planning.

Seeing as I am a little miffed at an order of only 11 wagons managed to have 3 incorrect items I shall bring up my other point of note.

I ordered 2 of the VTG blue items when they were announced recently, I asked Revolution about putting them in with the other wagons I had on order to save me the postage. The reply was a firm no.

Fast forward to today all 11 wagons (3 incorrect) (2 VTG blue in there) arrive in the same box. The box is second hand, (one I think they came from China in), I commend the re-use, merely pointing out that no expenditure has been born by either party for the packing. The package was 3 kg’s and was sent by DPD local (excellent couriers in my opinion). On checking their website I could send the same weight and size of box for £8.99 including VAT, cheap. Trains4u would no doubt be cheaper still with a trade account.

But I have paid out £31.50 for postage of 11 wagons. A £22.51 excess (or more).

Looking forward to an explanation as to what I have paid for and hopefully a partial refund.

Hi Andy

firstly, it would be useful if you contacted us directly rather than hoping someone may see your complaint on the public forum.

we’ve had a few hundred orders to send out so inevitably we may make a mistake.

please write to us with the details of the problem and we will look to rectify it on Tuesday.

i have no input in terms of postage charges, so cannot comment on that.

in respect to packaging materials, we will reuse and recycle as much material as we can. For orders of specific sizes we will reuse the original boxes, as they were designed specifically for these wagons.
