We are pleased to reveal that Rails Limited in partnership with the National Railway Museum and the Deltic Preservation Society will be producing six exclusive versions of Accurascale's newly tooled OO gauge Deltic locomotives!

The announcement by Accurascale that they are to produce an OO Scale Class 55 ‘Deltic’ locomotive has enabled Locomotion models, Rails Limited and The Deltic Preservation Society to work together to announce a range of exclusive models that will be jointly marketed by all three organisations.

These models are expected to be released in late 2019 and were announced earlier today at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition.

The following versions will be produced;
1 – 55015 ‘Tulyar’ in 1980’s BR blue livery with the distinctive Finsbury park white cab (Era 7)

2 – D9019 ‘Royal Highland Fusilier’ BR two tone green as running post 1965 (Era 5)

3 – D9009 ‘Alycidon’ in BR blue livery with pre-TOPS number for mainline running, high-intensity headlight, GPS pods, etc. as currently operating on the main line (Era 9)

4 - D9002 ‘Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry’ in two tone green livery as currently preserved and running on the National Network (Era 9).

5 - D9002 ‘Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry’ in two tone green 1980 with full yellow ends as repainted for its final thirteen months in traffic before withdrawal on 31st December 1981. The repaint into its colours was paid for with the aid of a grant from the Friends of the National Railway Museum (Era 7).

6 - D9008 ‘The Green Howards’ in ex-works green livery without yellow warning panel and without name as delivered in July 1961. Central BR Totem, plain sides. no vents etc (optional name plates will be provided in the box to be affixed if required) The locomotive was not named until 30th September 1963. (Era 5)

How will it be possible to put a nameplate on D9008 when the BR emblem will be in the way? And after naming, small BR emblems were applied at the cab ends, weren't they?

Yes, that does seem rather curious - if you wanted a named D9008, a better starting point would be another green namer surely?

In another official announcement there will be sound fitted versions available.

Yes correct but are not specified for these preserved models and atm you can only pre-order DCC Ready hence why I was asking the question.

Edit: Apologies but are you saying there will be another official announcement to say these preserved models will have a sound fitted option?

I meant there was another announcement about these and sound fitted versions, I want to order Nimbus with sound but nothing as yet.

Yes there are but I was specifically referring to these preserved models where on the Rails website they only have DCC Ready to pre-order but no sound versions.

Tulyar was ordered within minutes of the announcement, but only in DCC ready. Would very much like their sound project and hopefully some sort of agreement can be reached by Rails to supply sound either fitted or as separate for us to fit.

Why do we need another one?

Why do we need the football league, hair straighteners or even model railways at all?

Because there's clearly demand, and sad as it may seem, in a free market economy, Accurascale is perfectly entitled to bring them to market, and myself along with many others are entitled to part with our hard-earned cash as we choose.  Or maybe we should campaign to have them reintroduce the Hornby Dublo Deltic instead....
