Brass W-iron advice - BR VEA & ODA wagons - 00 gauge

Hi everyone,

I have a couple of wagon kits in the cupboard that are currently of little use to me; they are a Parkside Vanwide, and a pipe wagon.  That said, if I replace the suspension, etc, I can use them as a VEA and ODA respectively.  I know I can readily get the parts to do this, however I am thinking of using etched brass w-irons to give a bit of extra weight and strength.  Can anyone advise on what make and type to use?

Thanks and regards,

Alex.

Hi again,

Thanks for the link; your method looks straightforward, and has the advantage of showing where air reservoirs, etc, are fitted.  I should be able to pick-up the FAT 19 chassis locally tomorrow.  Will look at another way of adding weight low down on the model.

Regards,

Alex.
