RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted January 1, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 1, 2020 Hi Dan, thank you. Happy New Year to all! Had a day off yesterday to take Lez out shopping. But today I have made more progress with the painting. Just half the right hand wall now to get painted, then the first coat will be complete on the walls. I fitted the fascia board to the front today as well. The doors and windows will be painted chocolate and cream. I have yet to buy the guttering and butts. Back to work tomorrow for a rest Cheers, Ade.
Andrew P
Starting to look like a proper Man Cave now mate, will there be a Pole inside for the Dancers?
RMweb Gold Popular Post Adrian Stevenson Posted January 1, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 1, 2020 Hi Andy, really looking forwards to moving my stuff in there now. Just had half an hour in there to tidy up. Baseboard one is in situ but the legs are only clamped in place at the moment and need screwing to the board. Due to how the cabin is constructed with the two halves joined together, the baseboards will gain an extra 40cm on the scenic side taking it to the cabin wall. This will be handy as it will allow me to model to embankment and trees. The only drawback will be the joining wall coming out which you can see in the (messy work in progress )second photo. But I think I will curve the backscene around it. The backscene is going to be curved in the corner of the cabin too. Not too fond of 90 degree joints if they can be avoided. With the overall width of the boards I am hoping that the railway will sit well in the landscape. Cheers, Ade. 24
RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted January 4, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 4, 2020 The last wall, doors and two windows painted today. In addition I have given a second coat of paint to the exposed end of the grain of the logs. These have now had four coats, so they should fair up well to the weather. The chocolate brown paint is now is stock, so ordering this. Just doing the door frame, door panels and window frames on the exterior in this to give a contrast. Blinds have been purchased from IKEA for both doors and windows. Hoping to get these up tomorrow. Cheers, Ade.
Dan Taddeo
Fantastic Progress on the new home of the Malmesbury Station layout! It won't be long you'll be enjoying a cuppa and running some errands on the branch line! Dan 2
RMweb Gold Popular Post Adrian Stevenson Posted January 5, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 5, 2020 Big progress today! The IKEA window blinds fitted and three of the window trims done. But best of all, the legs are now fitted to the three baseboards. The boards are not joined up yet though and I may add some bracing to the legs. It was dark, so excuse the poor flash pic. Cheers, Ade.

RMweb Premium nsl714 Posted January 6, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 6, 2020 Hi Ade, That’s a real nice building you’ve made there, it seems perfectly suited to the layout. Does the layout take up most of the length then? Zach
RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted January 6, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 6, 2020 (edited) Hi Zach, thanks. Yes the baseboards will run the full 26 feet of the length of the cabin. I have the last board to construct. There is 18 foot of boards shown in the photo. Cheers, Ade. jazz
Hi Ade, looking right grand. Lovely job. Best wishes for a great new year in there.
Dan Taddeo
Pretty soon, if any one were to visit Ade and he doesn't immediately come to the front door, they'll have to check the GWR house in the back! Ade it looks awesome! Love the shades, and the structure simply looks awesome. At first glance this look like a modern day erector set for home builders! Quick and easy I only say that because your pictures make it appear that way, but I don't want to discount any work as I'm sure many many hours were spent getting thus far! My crystal ball tell me that in the very near future the electrical work will be coming. Keep up the good work Dan T. 1

RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted January 8, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 8, 2020 Last delivery of the Osmo paint arrived today. So the chocolate brown can do done at the weekend if it is fine, hopefully Sunday looks like being the best day. Raining here now... Been thinking ahead to the summer and the garden line (Running before I can walk you might add.. ) I am thinking of adding a model of Great Summerford Halt which was the next station down the line from Malmesbury. Just a single platform affair with a siding in the 1920's. By 1933 the station had gone. The model would be portable and simply placed on the decking. Cheers, Ade.

RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted January 11, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 11, 2020 Yet more cabin painting. Done the doors and door frame and one external window frame in the chocolate coloured paint today. I now intend to do the barge boards and fascias in this as I like the contrast. I have also done four of the five window frames on the inside. Cheers, Ade.

RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted January 11, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 11, 2020 Very nice, your good lady was right about the chocolate and cream combo Much better than my suggested of dark and light stone 1
RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted January 11, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 11, 2020 Thanks for the comments and likes. The cutting in was done with a half inch brush, so it was rather time consuming and I have it all to do again for the top coat, but it was worth it. Tomorrow should see some more done. Cheers, Ade.
Andrew P
At least the Sun is out this morning Ade, after all that rain overnight, how do I know, the poor dog was not to well and wanted to go out a few times, and came in soaked, then shook herself all over ME.
