You can get away with repetition of the better ones if painted differently. Have sometimes thought about mounting them a fraction higher on the seats to compensate for slightly underscale but really you are only after a passing illusion of occupants.

Loving the Autocoaches, shame theAirfix/Hornby version hasn’t been retooled

There is the Tower brass one for 7mm which pops up on Ebay periodically. These lasted much longer than the Lionheart one although that doesnt matter for Ade's era.

Ade,

Alan’s Modelu figures are exquisite, and I really wouldn’t want to dissuade you from spending your hard-earned in that direction, but if they’re inside the coach, I think they’re a bit wasted.

There are some very cheap, but for inside coaches,  entirely adequate 1/48 seated figures on the bay of E, which I have used - might be worth a look?

Colin,

nothing very concrete.  There are plenty of photos on the w3 and I just went for muted, natural, generally dark colours.

Google images, I searched terms like 1930s fashion, 1930s poor clothes.

These are US (see the prices!!!) and show there was no lack of colour, but it was pastel.  Men wore ties!

This site seems to include some interesting rabbit holes in which to pass lockdown..

includes some road vehicles, even the Bentley 8 litre...

again, it seems like more emphasis on the US, perhaps they had more cameras!

enjoy!

Today's progress report.

The 3F Jinty is now sound chipped plus stay alive added and weathered. Just need a crew and some LMS pattern lamps to complete.

The 64xx is now finished with the underframe and wheels weathered.

As the decorating materials have arrived today, I will be doing the painting the kitchen and living room next week. So railway updates will be rare.

Cheers, Ade.

What did you use to paint the wheels and underframe on the pannier?

Today I made another big step forwards. I fitted my first DDC sound chip and stay alive to the Lionheart 64xx Pannier tank.

The stay alive is amazing and runs for about 15 seconds!

Cheers Ade.

What should chip and stay alive did you use?

I have also weathered both Autocars and the Chocolate and Cream B Set plus the Toad brake van with a spray of frame dirt. I can now put the glazing in the Toad.

The roofs to the carriages have yet to be done.

I have included a shot of the wartime austerity chocolate B set  to show the contrast of the un-weathered bogies and frame.

Cheers, Ade.

Great work Ade and your lady Lez has done some smart film work to.

A warning - I always add some foam stops or similar on the end of the track as a safety stop when the urge to have a test drive arises.

If you should lose the dcc the loco will drive on for 12-15 seconds via the "Keep alive" with disastrous results.

Thanks Chris, you make me blush!

I have just given the credit card some hammer and ordered three carriages from Slaters. These ran on the line until replaced by the B set in the mid 1930's. I have ordered two brake 3rd's diagram T34 and one 1st/2nd composite diagram U4. (In fact, the line used a diagram U5, but no one makes these.) So these should keep me busy for a while.

Cheers, Ade.

Done a few odd jobs this afternoon after decorating this morning:

Painted the station fencing again. Looks like I will need another pack having laid it at the side of the platform.

Glazed the Toad brake van and fitted the missing rear coupling after making a spring. Just need to fix the roof on now to complete.

Painted the Modelu "mini me" and fitted into the 64xx. Lez remarked my hair and tash have not been that brown for years.....

Cheers, Ade.
