Always a satisfying build stage Ade, may I ask what colour scheme you intend to finish them in ?

Looking the part now.

Hi G, I think the late 1920's chocolate and cream livery , but I am still tempted by Lake, given that the Malmesbury line branch set were still wearing it in 1930/31. They got repainted in chocolate and cream and then with a few years they were gone being replaced by the B set.

Cheers, Ade.

My first choice would be Lake !

I have a couple of the Dapol Autocoaches in that livery and it really looks superb to my eyes, but don't let me swing your final choice...............Lake.....Lake.....Lake......Lake.......

Grahame

p.s. over on my do-dah I responded to the 517 Class build whatsit in a fuller explanation if you're interested.

might be worth a quick read ?

What colour are the ends on the two liveries?

If both have black ends you could do one side chocolate and cream, and the other side lake.

Having the luxury of a degree of freelance  on my light railway all of my coaches and some of the wagons have different liveries / lettering  on each side.

Doesn't do any harm to have a running session Ade, it definitely keeps the interest going eh ?

I do like the rake of coaches siting in the siding, they'll look good when they're finished and running into the station I reckon.

Glad to see you have some 'proper' locos running on Malmesbury again rather than that big green thing. :D

Brave man !

"Big green thing" now has a sound decoder. You might have to look away tomorrow once I fit it  :D

Finally had some time to play on the layout.

Fitted the working tail lamp to the austerity brown B set.

Had a good running session with the rule 1 loco, the Gresley A3 2750 "Papyrus". It is necessary to remove the water scoop on the tender as this will foul Peco points. So I removed a couple of mm off it and refitted it and this now clears the points. The other running issue was the Cartazzi axle. It was fine going forwards over any turnout but in reverse it would derail. Heljan's design is good in so far it is sprung and is on a ball joint and is free to move around, up down and sideways. After trying a different spring still no good. :( Hmmm...Guess what, remove the spring altogether and it runs fine at any speed and any direction! There is just something about A3's which makes you want to run them that bit faster. Enclosed are some pics. If you squint, the brown B set could be mistaken for Teaks :D Also drilled out the horrid solid chimney on the A3.

As it was a day for big engines, the 43xx also had a run out.

These engines are crying out for sound and are next on my list.

Back to work tomorrow, so no real updates envisaged this coming week. But Friday we have our socially distanced VE Day 75 street party to look forwards to.

Cheers, Ade.

That Good Looking A3 was probably built less than 1/2 a mile from where I was born (probably the reason I'm good looking too :) ) Superb locos there

Now got the underframes finished for the branch set and couplings fitted. Given them a test run shown here in this 30 second video. They could do with a bit more weight added I think. I need to obtain some lead flashing. But I am happy with them. The roofs need finishing now.

Cheers, Ade.

Thanks as always!

Just fitted a new sound chip by Locoman to the Dapol Terrier over the weekend. I am very impressed with the range of sounds it produces. Also fitted with a Digitrains stay alive like the Panniers. Again a rule 1 loco really for the garden line. Not much movement on the video, more a demo for the sounds.

The A3 has also now been sound fitted with a Locoman chip. But I am awaiting a bigger speaker.

Cheers, Ade.

That platform surface could be slippery when wet?!!

Sound is excellent though!
