Lez finished work officially last week on Nov 3rd. On Friday she had an interview with another local auction house and immediately was offered the job there and then! Full time and she started yesterday. Cheers, Ade. That is brilliant news! Onwards and upwards! Cheers David 1 1

I was told last week my job is going in April 2021 which is about a year sooner than I was planning retirement and 4 years before state pension. However with the package I am going to get and the fact that they are going to have to buy my holiday off, I think we can get through without too many issues. We are now considering if the wife can retire at the same time or whether she wants to work on. If she stays on another year we will be able to replace the car! Anyhow great news for you both. Keep up the good work on the layout. Paul R

RMweb Gold Popular Post Adrian Stevenson Posted November 28, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 28, 2020 Hi Guys, hope everyone is doing ok and keeping safe? Lez has settled well into her new job. Last Friday I quit my job! Not happy with how things had been handled and how the company was being run. I am now serving my months notice (on furlough..... but will have to be paid in full) and officially leave on Dec 23rd. I had been very unhappy for some time, but the last two weeks had been hell and was making me ill with worry. Made one phone call and landed a new job with better pay and shorter hours. So now I have plenty of modelling time for the next few weeks Put in an order for some paints and some cosmetic fishplates from Precision. I had a nice chat with Andy P yesterday morning and then spent a few hours in the cabin. Last weekend I started on the engine shed and goods shed yard. I have used real ash from our coal fire for this. No finished yet but the pics show the progress to date. I have also added some Heki grass matting which I was kindly given. This is just a base for the static grass and scatter which I intend to use. The green is brighter than I want, but given I have enough of this matting it seemed a shame not to utilise it. There is the embankment to build up next. Still awaiting the point levers from Hattons. Here are a few snaps from yesterday. Cheers, Ade. 29 1

RMweb Premium Mike Bellamy Posted November 28, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 28, 2020 Best wishes and good luck with the new job - and your extra modelling time. Don't forget that you'll need to get a new photo for your avatar instead of advertising your soon to be ex-employer. I guess this means that I won't see your happy smiling face in the local paper anymore ! Mike
Andrew P
Great chat yesterday Ade, and some excellent news for both you and Lez. More modelling time, no one can argue with that, but getting paid by a soon to be Ex Boss at the same time has to be the biggest Bonus of all. Well done mate, and some great pics by the way. Loving it. 1 1

RMweb Gold Popular Post Adrian Stevenson Posted November 29, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 29, 2020 Hi Guys, thanks for all the kind comments. Hi Mike, I might still be in the local paper yes, got to get a new mugshot done. Had another productive day today: Made the sloped ends to the platform and flashed the whole thing over in grey primer. Cut the first bit of fencing to length. Added more grass matting around the cattle dock, coal store and lamp shed. More matting added behind the engine shed loop. Done some more weathering to the track. Painted the station approach road down the goods shed in grey. Also started to put together the sloped plywood control panel. Looking forwards to getting more done tomorrow. Cheers, Ade.

Barnaby
Well done Ade, 2021 sounds like it will be most enjoyable for you both. It's great to read that there are still some employers who recognise quality, loyalty and commitment well done. Best 1
Simond
Ade, I'm always wary of offering criticism, some people don’t like it! but I do hope it will be helpful. The time & effort you’ve put into getting your track to look the part shows, but I don’t feel (opinion warning!) that the ready-made grass is up to the same standard. I know it’s early days, and you might have plans to make it less uniform, so it’s just a thought. atb Simon 1
RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted November 29, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 29, 2020 Hi Simon, no worries. The grass sheet is just an underlay so to speak. I intend to cover the whole thing with static grass of various lengths (once I buy an applicator!) Cheers, Ade.
RMweb Gold Popular Post Adrian Stevenson Posted November 30, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 30, 2020 Had another day in the cabin. Two more patches of green matting put down. More ash done between the main line and the goods shed siding. Cut down the platform where it tapers off as it was too wide and the angle not quite right. Made the grass embankment loading ramp. Added some embossed stone brick paper to the platform edge. Still very much at the broad brush strokes level, but nice to see the baseboards getting covered. Patch the Cat has been assisting. Cheers, Ade.
