I thought they worked in pairs? And also move a lot faster than “walking”. 1
RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted August 28, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 28, 2021 Ha ha very good. Nice to see these four car sets. Good excuse to have one on a smaller layout. Setting off for home later this morning. Cheers, Ade. 2 1

RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted August 28, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 28, 2021 Had a good journey home. Left at 10am. Usual delays around Bristol. Had a stop off at our favourite motorway services at Gloucester for a break and a cup of tea. Arrived home at 3pm. The Van is cleaned and prepared ready for the East Lancs Railway next week. Last night I fitted the wheels on the GUV. Just tested on the tracks and she runs fine. Will do a bit more on the GUV tomorrow. Cheers, Ade. 15

Marshall5
I've been following your thread with interest Ade. Would I be correct in thinking that your layout is set in the early 30's? If so, as Malachite green wasn't introduced until 1939, might I suggest that S.R. Olive green might be more suitable for your GUV? I've built a couple of these kits - one as a CCT and the other as an early PMV. As I model the late 50's mine are in B.R.(S) passenger stock green (Railmatch 314) which replaced Crimson from 1957. Looking forward to seeing the finished van. Cheers, Ray.

RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted August 31, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 31, 2021 Hi Ray, thanks for the comments. The layout themed as mid to late 1930’s. As Malachite green came out in 1937 it would fit ok, plus I do fancy something a little different! I know the colour is a bit bright! But I really like the Art Deco period. Today is the start of our second week of our holiday and we are up at the East Lancs Railway. We have a great spot for the van just a few feet from the halt at Burrs Country Park. On Friday a certain A3 will pass by…. I have brought the GUV with me to do a bit more. Cheers, Ade.

RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted September 1, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 1, 2021 A bit more progress on the GUV tonight. Vac and steam pipes, lamp brackets and door handles all fitted. (Again the roof is plonked in place.) I have some Dapol screw link couplings to fit once it is painted up. 10
brossard
I like Dapol screw links, good value. The spring can be a bit wimbly so a stiffer spring from the scrap box might be in order. John
