Had a nice surprise when the five telegraph poles arrived today from "Tricky" at Monksgate.

Look away now. :D

The platelayers hut came today and tonight I have made a start on it. Very straight forwards to build. I will finish the rest tomorrow, as a bottle of Merlot beckons...

Usual disclaimer applies. Just a happy customer. Nice kit and delivered within 24 hours.

Cheers, Ade.

Treated ourselves to a Spanish Tapas inspired take away tonight, which was very nice. However, I had a eureka moment when I took some meat off the bamboo skewers. See the photo! These will make the basis of the scratch build of the wooden loading gauge. This survived at Malmesbury until 1948 when it collapsed after a wagon hit it. It was replaced by a conventional rail built example.

Cheers, Ade.

Hi Ade,

Rather envious of progress on your layout and your inventiveness with the bamboo skewer.

I decided to take an alternative route and scratch build one from O gauge rail and other bits soldered together

Wouldn't you know it, a few days after making it a friend sent me a white metal kit of the same thing !!! :D

Got the first basic coat of paint on the platelayers hut.

Also made some removeable coal loads for the wagons out of foamboard sprayed black and fitted with real coal.

So another productive day.

Cheers, Ade.

:D

It is a single speaker. I drilled five holes in the chassis (which is plastic) under the bunker to help the sound escape. The sound project was from Charlie Petty at DC-DE Kits and Videos. Charlie also supplied the speaker. Very quick service. As ever, no connection, just a satisfied customer.

Cheers, Ade.
