Ladmanlow Sidings and other C&HPR locations

The water tower, side on , is exactly how I thought of it...

The shed

is a bit big....maybe.

it is also over the track that implies something to do with trains....

a smaller shed to the front may imply the presence of something like a house for a pump...to get the water up to the tank ;)

I like the way the tank looks side on, maybe with a tree the other side similar to the exit in Andy P's photos would soften the exit a treat. If you're worried about the plausibility of the position, could the tank be a relic from days with a different track layout and couldn't be moved so has been left where it is.

Morning all.

Thanks very much for all your thoughts, they're much appreciated.

I will do as you suggest and return the shed to Cromford Wharf where it came from.

@Beechnut, Thanks very much, you make a valid point, but actually provide a good excuse for some shunting: Quite a few of the water towers on the C&HPR werre filled from water trucks brought up from the mainline, so if I push the bufferstop back a bit on the siding, then a regular water delivery can go there.

I'll crack on with this later.

Thanks all,

Al.

You might need a little shed with a generator and an electric pump, to get the water from the tanker into the tank.

And of course a diesel tank wagon.

The little shed could go next to the water tower, just behind the buffer stop.

I've detailed and painted the tank now:

I'm quite pleased how it's turned out.

Next up, some undergrowth, then some wallage.

Thanks for looking,

Al.

I think the incline at Cromford Wharf counted as the “main line”...

Michael Oakley's book "BR Diesel Freight in the Traditional Era" that I'm reading just now mentions that (presumably in the early 70's) that after some of the lines were removed, they used to haul class 03 diesels up the incline to work at the otherwise isolated upper section!

Cheers Andy.

I don't think I've ever done ivy (as the bishop said to the actress) I'll need to have a play with some flockage.

Al.

O.K. Forget Ivy, think Brambles that grow about 5 to 6ft high and would wrap around the legs, plus as Johnster has just said; Shrubbage.:good:

There's far too many Monty Python fans round 'ere...

Anyway, I've made a start on some wallage.

I take some 6mm x 2.5mm styrene rod, and whittle the edges off:

Then I chop it up into little pieces:

...and then I glue it back together again:

Thanks for looking,
