So far this evening I have added the roof cladding:

ladmanlow1624.jpg.8ec6824929b62021b8f4c0f461f297aa.jpg

You will notice I have also distressed the bottom edge of some of the sheets, to better represent what happens to old corrugated iron.

Once that was done, I gave it an all over blast of Matt Tan from a rattlecan to act as a primer.

More to follow.

Let's do some painting!

For the sides / walls I used these two colours:

ladmanlow1627.jpg.18787e672f074c1d0754f7712f737522.jpg

Humbrol Light Grey 64 as the base coat and Humbrol Dark Sea Grey 123 dry brushed on top.

ladmanlow1630.jpg.8415d39b3ae49e7732c366194ee5b03d.jpg

For the roof, I used these:

ladmanlow1631.jpg.057dbb9118a9889be632defcfc7fa967.jpg

Humbrol Matt Leather 62 and Humbrol Brick Red 70.

I mixed these with some thinners, and then applied both together whilst wet, so they blend and mix on the model. You can see they are still wet in these photos:

I'm leaving it all to dry now, before I start rusting up the walls.

Thanks for looking,

Al.

Splendid idea. That's one I'll follow, for sure.

I'll need to conecntrate on sheds that will take a Land Rover, though.

Size of shed needed depends on how many parts the land rover is in...

Let's remind ourselves of the prototype I picked to model:

Here's the results of a bit of paintage:

ladmanlow1637.jpg.f29d95ec775025e69c076b244574962a.jpg

I'm pretty happy with that.

The pitch of the roof is wrong, compared to the original, but apart from that it's not too bad. There's some detailing around the bottom which I could do with Dark Earth weathering powders, but I'll let the paint dry properly first.

Thanks for looking,

Al.

A shed containing a half rebuilt Land Rover, and all the bits scattered around. That would be a cracking little cameo for something.

Right then, onto the next project...

I probably won't be using a lot of the kit, just the axles, wheels and maybe the bulkhead. the rest of it is rubbish.

That is much the same way with the Model T Fords. The kits aren't Airfix and to be honest, they're really not much good at all. Nothing fits together properly and I've made a plastic kit or two. I had planned to civilianise them, but they're headed for the junkheap around the back of Aston on Clun garage.

That kit you have might say Airfix on the box, but the contents don't look like their work for some reason.

Ouch, kick in the nads for those of us ready to plonk. (compliment)

I think I'll concentrate on making box fresh diseasels look lived in and ask experts like yourself to supply the "world". That's top work Al.

Actually, rtp is so overpriced these days, you're something of a guru that with practice, for many pounds less a proud facsimile can be made, with the additional benefit of having made it yourself.

That shed looks as though it's going home fast but, no doubt like the real thing, it'll have a few more years left in it yet. An excellent job.

Thanks jonathan. It's a bit rough and ready compared to yours, you always make your models very neatly.

Stunning as usual Al, but you have missed the sheet over what was probably a side window.

YES I KNOW, :o

Hat, coat and gone.:nono::D

Andy I'm glad you said that because it had occurred to me but I grabbed my hat and coat and just ran for the door.

But your original was very rough and ready and my sheds are supposed to be at least 30 years less weathered than yours.

I just knew one of you would mention it... :D

It's a conceptual realisation of the essence of shedness, distilled from the photographic representation depicted...

@Captain Kernow  will know what I mean, I'm sure...

No you are right, this started life as a JD Models kit over 50 years ago, and Airfix took over the moulds in the 90s. The kit is no longer produced.
