I think what really comes across is what a generous guy Mick was, both with knowledge and model Landrovers it seems. Although I’ve only corresponded briefly he was very supportive of a lot of folk including myself on here and he’ll be sorely missed. He’s a prime example of the kind of community that exists here.

On a complete tangent I spotted this image online and thought of you Al. I know it’s been sometime since you modelled Bakewell and you may have seen this image before but I thought it was too good not to share.

Is that a Camping Coach in the goods yard?
Chris.

There was one at Bakewell from 1954-67 and an earlier LMS Caravan in the 1935-9.

I realise there haven't been any photos of the actual layout on this thread for a while, so here's a recrop of one of my favourites, taken outside as you have come to expect:

I think a lot of layouts will now have a Land Rover or two parked up somewhere.  I know mine will.

I love the fallen over bicycle.

That beware of trains sign is vey close to the track, though!

But the track is where you have to be most aware of the trains.  So surely it makes perfect sense to have the sign where it is needed most?

Cheers Simon,

It is, yes, but just far enough away to clear all the stock. As I was saying to @Graham T when I first put in the point levers, I managed to run them over...

Yes, a nice little homage.

Al.

I will be adding one on mine for sure and perhaps a nice touch if all the layouts at SWAG 2022  had one .

Good idea about the Land Rovers, wrong era for Little Muddle but I do have the Fowler ploughing engine that will now be a frequent visitor to the layout pictures of the future.

Close, yes, but it might be fouling the structure gauge - although as these tended to get more generous over time, this could be a way of showing the ancient history of the layout.

Similarly the wrong era for Warren but perhaps a cakebox challenge tribute could be an acceptable alternative

Well it's all gone a bit quiet on here, hasn't it?

However, the slumbering demon which is my mojo has been prodded into interest by the discussions on the Sheep Chronicles thread, and that, combined with some poorly judged late-night internet shopping has resulted in me spending some money...

So, I've bought one of these...

ladmanlow1828.jpg.38472caf7385371bc1dbbc0649c8d5fd.jpg

and one of these...

ladmanlow1829.jpg.6f53f3ff9f314d6e4a1470f2534bb6e3.jpg

I also bought these...

ladmanlow1830.jpg.f86a2320bc2f1615b309adf026744cac.jpg

Because this loco has the wrong sound file in it, and no keep-alive:

So, when that lot turns up, I may have some modelling to show you.

Al.

Yes mate!

No such thing as poorly judged late night shopping.
