RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted May 22, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 22, 2020 Not much to report so far, except that 6 hours yesterday evening was spent creating this: Lots more needed, but it's a start. Al. 4

RMweb Gold Popular Post Alister_G Posted May 22, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 22, 2020 You know that big pile of stones? Well... I need some more... I've used it all on this: I've included a very typical Derbyshire feature, a pinch stile: Right, more stone needed. Al. 14 12

RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted May 23, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 23, 2020 Thanks Stu, there's a few bits that I'm not happy with yet: You can see the base I built the walls on in a few places, which needs hiding, and the colouring of the stile isn't quite right - although that may fade a bit, they usually do. The grass is all a bit samey at the moment, I need to introduce some changes in colour and texture. And then there's a load more walls to add. Cheers, Al. 2

Mrkirtley800
Very nice Al, but is all the walling in such good condition in Derbyshire, or do you need some that has fallen down or is being rebuilt. it certainly is effective Derek

You make a good point, maybe I should model some bits which are not so well built. Of course a real drystone wall has three layers, it's effectively two external thin walls with a centre of rubble, whereas my model walls are solid, but I could try building a bit with smaller styrene to make up the layers. Cheers, Al.
Mrkirtley800
Of course you are dead right about the construction of dry stone walling, a very skilled occupation. But in model form a few displaced stones, carefully painted will give the impression of a wall needing some TLC. Derek 5
RMweb Gold Popular Post Alister_G Posted May 27, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 27, 2020 I popped over to Ladmanlow today, it was such a nice day. I managed to catch the Postie taking a shortcut: The scenery is quite impressive (if you get the angle right) Oh look, the Postie's got to the yard: The traffic in the lane is incessant this morning: Oh no! He's forgotten to close the gate! You know what that means, don't you... We're in trouble now! Thanks for looking, Al. 24

RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted May 27, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 27, 2020 Brilliant; you’ve captured the slightly bemused way they sort of mill around aimlessly while pretending not to notice the others perfectly.
