Looks very good. Even more impressive considering it's your first railway.

 

Can you give us some particulars? Scale/gauge, dimensions, control, etc.

N Gauge.

10ft x 3ft split across two boards.

Approx 2ft scenery visible and 1ft fiddle yard (4 line) non visible.

BR Blue Diesel era.

Scenario based on S&T signalling upgrade preparation - but still semaphore.

Standard DC control.

Seep solenoid point operated.

Re the facing turnout Tony.....

The layout is BR 1980s. Inspired by Dent and Blea Moor and the S&C in general....but not intended to be strictly prototypical. The main to main cross over is trailing, but the turn-outs for the loops are facing. 

 

Looking at Anderson&Fox, it shows a 1962 signalling diagram for Blea Moor with facing points for the loops so I guess the LMS aversion to facing points was relaxed in later years. The layout is largely based on this loop structure.
