The have assembled the motion with the vacuum pump on the wrong side, I'm sure this is a simple error. here is the finely detailed motion with picture reversed by me, which rather makes the lubricators backwards, but you get the idea. Hornby stress that this is far from final! Apart from that the models look the same as displayed a while ago, but there is video of one running, which is very pleasing. Go for it Hornby! A beautiful piece of work so far, fit to carry on the traditional place of the Lizzies in railway and model railway history. Cheers edit; given that the vacuum pump and associated crosshead lever is 'handed' I'm not sure if it's very simple to fix! Still Hornby says it's early days.... I'm sure these things happen all the time between design and final production. Here is a mid-30s possibly about 1936-7 pic and the crosshead lever has gone but the cylinder remains. This might be close to the intended Hornby spec. I cannot help but think a version with the 1933-4 flat-side tender as a limited production run would sell massively, being an icon for Hornby down the years, including in 0 gauge. There was an article not that long ago in Railway Modeller creating the conventional 1952 rebuild as 46202 Princess Anne that used both Princess and Duchess parts. It is quite attractive in my view. Off the top of my head (scary I know) Lizzie went from 46 Lined Black straight to the trail BR Lined Black (bascially the mixed traffic livery) in 48/49. I wonder which if any Lizzies and Duchesses were ever in plain wartime black? I know many if not all the 'streamlined' Coronations were thus treated but not so sure about the Lizzies.
