The set number is basically taken from the TCC so its 45003 in XC03.

Quite - but I'm trying to find out which Hornby catalogue  number is 45001 or 45003 - R4941 or R4941A.

The Hornby website (and Hornby stockists)  lists all the XC coaches with catalogue numbers and a respective coach number - apart for the two TCCs - it just says R4941 and R4941A

If anyone has access to the Hornby catalogue, is it possible to confirm which coach numbers are allocated to R4941 and R4941A please?

TIA,

Mick

Hi Mick,

Its not completely clear from the Catalogue but it’s listed as R4941/A then has the coach description then 45001/45003 so looks like 45001 is R4941 and A is 45003 if it’s printed correctly.

I was trying to work out the Scotrail coaches too as the images so A C and D but not sure where B comes in. Might just have to wait til they come out.

hope that helps

Mark

Hi Mark,

Thanks - It does logically follow from the other XC01/XC03 coach and Hornby R numbers, that R4941A will be 45003, but we are talking about the big H here.................

If I have time I will go and visit JDM and place my order tomorrow.

The 2020 Hornby catalogue has vehicle numbers for each model except the Scotrail TSD's:

GWR:

TGS: 49104

TS: 48110, 48131

TSD: 48111

Formation being: 48110, 48111, 48131, 49104 (TS, TSD, TS, TGS) Set GW04?

Scotrail:

TS: 42561, 42562

TSL: 42046, 42045, 42343, 42184

TSD: No numbers on website, Not shown in catalogue.

TGFB: 40601, 40602

From this you can have two sets and two spare TSL's which could possibly be used to make a 5 car set:

TGFB, TSD, TS, TSL, (TSL)

HA25: 40602, 42292, 42562, 42045

HA26: 40601, 42004, 42561, 42046

Cross Country:

TGS: 44021, 44052

TCC: 45001, 45003

TFD: 41193, 41195

TSD: 42366, 42376, 42380, 42371

TS: 42342, 42097, 42377, 42370, 42378, 42036, 42051, 42369

From this you can make two sets and have a few spare vehicles:

TFD, TCC, TS, TS, TS, TSD, TGS

XC01: 41193, 45001, 42342, 42097, 42377, 42366, 44021

XC03: 41195, 45003, 42370, 42378, 42036, 42376, 44052

Brilliant! Was hoping someone would list the coach numbers :D just written down the numbers for XC03 so I know what to order. Gonna be getting two GWR rakes anyways so don't have to worry about the numbers for them, just buy one of each.

Coach B is the TSD. This is not shown in the catalogue for some reason.

Thank you. I couldn't find much up to date info on the GWR sets and the catalogue only showed the four numbers.

Yes also puzzled as to what coach B is on the Scotrail sets , but I don't want to wait around before ordering , as there's nothing worse than having two power cars and no intermediate stock .

Not talk, it’s fact. All 26 sets delivered with 4 coaches then any fifth coach will get added later. HA14 was delivered last week which means we now have half the sets now done and delivered.

The sets are being delivered in reverse number order HA26 was first. Sets 1-13 were classics and we still have 4 of those plus the extra sets HA31-33 but these are not getting done.

There are murmurs that the 5th coach will actually now be a TGS as it’s one less door to convert plus space for 6 additional bikes instead of the current 2. This is still to be confirmed so watch this space!

Isn’t there space for bikes in the rear of the power cars ?

I read that ScotRail have two issues here. Something to do with the Union (of staff I presume) having issue with that or having some sort of agreement to come to and also the standing time when taking stuff out of the power cars

Thank you for your reply and the information. Wabtec have really stepped up now with 3 sets being delivered this year but that is probably helped by GWR and XC sets coming to an end.

Hi, I’m a little confused with the release dates of the mk3s. I’ve heard they are due in April but other sources are saying later and earlier than that. Also it says summer for the XC power cars does anyone know why they have been delayed?

Thanks

Their is some confusion regarding delivery dates for the new Sliding Door MK3s.

They were originally due in September 2019, then their was some speculation that they may arrive in Q1 2020, but when I last checked a few weeks ago Hornby had them listed as due to arrive in Spring 2020. Some retailers have them listed as due in April 2020, so either way it doesn't look like it will be too long before they arrive now.

Now showing May 2020 for the XC ones.

I have had an updated status from Hattons on one of the Scotrail ones saying May. Not sure if that's because the rest are coming sooner (doubt it) or that the rest will be updated in due course!

Rails saying GWR and XC due in the next couple of weeks... Hmmm...

I'm very keen to see them, hopefully a big step up from the other Mk3s. I cancelled the NMT and sold the carriages, got some ScotRail power cars and ordered the coaches which I hope will end up with a better model

Approximately 10 months since the arrival of the power cars but tbh earlier than I expected in the light of present circumstances. If Hornby can safely distribute them to retailers it will give a much needed boost to their sales.

My OOC GWR pair have been sitting idly in the box since early last August so Little Dan will shortly be getting the call for the appropriate 4 from me.
