I like Buccaneers too.

I don’t think you can beat the Bucc :)

This is probably why the passenger stock from the boat train was taken to the town station to allow non ferry passengers to sleep.

The next moves have begun.

A Hunslet shunts whilst a Mogul brings in the morning DOWN Parcels...

Now it’s time for the 6MT Clan to propel its ECS to Stranraer junction.  It will then pull forward into Stranraer Town before shunting the ECS into the Carriage Sidings for cleaning.

Finally the crew will pull into the Shed and hand the loco over.  It will run again later in the day to Glasgow and back before heading to Carlisle (Kingmoor) on tonight’s UP train.

I’ve also started the ferry boarding thing.

I just noticed the porter is having a bad day on Platform 2!

The morning continues (in between everything else).

The hard working Hunslet pulls the parcel stock back to free a path for the Mogul to head to Stranraer shed for servicing.

The 2P and 4P Compound propel ECS back to the Town carriage sidings.

The hard working Hunslet has split the parcel stock and will place it at the pier ends.  The prototype had much more space at this end and could easily swallow a parcel train.

Also pictured is a brake van that I have repainted as I don’t really need the grey unfitted type.  It needs decals and detailing.

A Britannia hauled it to Carlisle where the Restaurant car attached to the rear at Crewe and a CCT were detached.

Up until September 1964, when the remaining ones were withdrawn en masse, the 'Northern Irishman' would have been far more likely to have had a Duchess as far as Carlisle. Derek Cross has written that 46256 was a regular from Carlisle on the up train during the summer of 1964.

Yes I just found that out this afternoon- I got the Back Track issue someone posted about above and 46244 was the power to Carlisle.  Thank you for confirming :)

It’s a shame that the Line was restricted to bigger classes as I’d love to have a Duchess or Roysl Scot running into Stranraer!

Dan mate. That is an outstanding collection of military aviation models. Did you build them all yourself?

I prefere WW2 era aircraft models myself but even then I do like the odd jet as well but I lost interest in them when we started buying the phantoms. Big mistake buying yank kit in my opinion. British aircraft were always better than US any time.

Cozying up to the yanks and buying aircraft from them after WW2 cost us our aviation industry and most of them were crocks.

Regards Lez.

Hello,

Yes all self built except the odd one.

Glad you like them!

Without going into politics I think the lessons from the 60’s/70’s for aviation procurement could be a whole degree subject!

Glad you liked the planes!

My favourites are the Saab JAS-39C Gripen and the Rafale!

After the DMU has departed to Glasgow a train from Newcastle via Carlisle.  It’s been hauled by a B1 before 47415 ‘Invincible’ took over at Carlisle with a 5MT pilot for some of the Port Road.  The 5MT has been detached off scene at Stranraer Harbour Junction.   I do quite like my Hornby repainted Greeley’s (yes I know they are too short).  The whole rake is brought up by a Stanier CL Suburban non corridor at the rear!

7MT 70025 is no more (sorry Johnster)..

Instead partially built Clan 72005/06/07 has arrived.  It’s the resin conversion kit.  I found the handrails a nightmare and it’s no where like as detailed as the Hornby one but once the name plates are added and it’s weathered it’ll be a second Clan and a good addition to my Parcels fleet.

Technically 70010 is too late for my layout and the Clan has better RA.

Far from perfect but my first loco conversion kit!

Not much time tonight to play I mean operationally operate...

The Hunslet is taking some goods round to Stranraer Town Goods Yard and the Newcastle Train has arrived hauled from Carlisle by Jubilee 45715 Invincible.

The Local sits in Platform 1 as the 2P builds up steam.  It won’t be long before it sees the cutters torch but I think it looks great :)
