Lima (now Hornby) 87017

Lima once made a model of 87017 as Lima L204809-HR01 "Iron Duke" in EWS livery.

Was this just wishful thinking or did it in fact carry that livery at some point?

Also 87101 was for a time owned by EWS.  Did it every carry the EWS livery?

No 87's carried EWS, the Hattons link is to a repainted Lima version (as stated in the advert)

017 carried BR Blue, Intercity (various I think) and Virgin red

101 carried BR Blue, Triple grey with Speedlink markings and back to BR Blue

Was Lima still producing models when EWS came onto the railway scene?

Not saying it didnt happen but I thought I knew every Lima 87 model they ever and I dont recall an EWS one.

Dont even recall 87 017 appearing in any livery from Lima to be honest.  To my mind from Lima we had (my knowledge on the virgin red releases is sketchy though);-

002 swallow

003 virgin

005 blue

005 exec

009 virgin

009 exec

010 limby

012 exec

018 exec

019 blue

021 exec with red buffer beam

022 ficticious large logo

031 inter city

034 blue

101 railfreight

AFAIK, Lima didn't make that model in that livery. Hatton's description clearly states it's a repaint/renumber job.

If you Google "Lima 204809" it comes up with 87101 Stephenson in RFD livery

I still have this model, RfD as Stephenson.

Standard 87 model though, none of the unique mods of 87101 were incorporated.

Yes it lacked the accurate fidelity of all the other Lima models, the Lima class 42 was a landmark model in that respect never bettered, even by the latest Bachmann Class 43.

MR & ME models used to do a Lima guide this list is a complete list of the 87s pretty much to the last one which was 87021. The red buffer beams generally meant they had had their previous overhaul at Stratford level 5 depot. Similarly treated were some 86s which I believe a couple had black headcode panels painted. I can't find any entry for 87034 so if it did get made it would be 2000 onwards. post-29694-0-54410700-1547385419_thumb.jpg
