They are trading under the name "Taunton Controls"

The product is ZTC 511

A bit like Hornby answering a query about a Lima locomotive from the 1980s that you purchased second hand. If you told them it was noisy. Not really their fault that you have problems with a second hand item from an earlier age. It's no reflection on their selling of the updated version.

In fairness to the current management, they were referring to "luck of the draw" when buying an early model from their predecessors.

But the old ZTC never made the 511, their models were the 505 and 510. It was Taunton who introduced the 511.

So a secondhand 511 might be a new Taunton build, or it might be a Taunton upgraded ZTC 505 or 510, which may well have retained the screen from the original 505 or 510. I can't remember if my 505 had an illuminated screen, but that was about 10 years ago.

I think thats incorrect.

ZTC did the 505 and 511, before TC took over.

Taunton Controls launched the new improved 611

They are now working on the "TC 612 Ambassador"

Cheers

Sorry, you're quite right. I forgot that Taunton called it the 611. (Edited to correct a typo). Edited by GoingUnderground

I would suggest when searching for a Backlit Screen on ebay make sure you ask the seller IS THE SCREEN BACKLIT.

Beware of those sellers who have no idea of what there selling, or selling on behalf of someone else who is 6ft under.

Always best to phone Graham with help and assistance.
