For those of you who might be interested in a track plan here it is. Very small and basic just 3 points. At the moment I have drawn it to 10ft 6 ins long, each faint square is 6 inches, I may be able to stretch it by another 6ins to a foot. If its 6ins that would be on the fiddleyard board, if a foot 6 inches on the fiddleyard and 6 inches on board 2.

Looks like a good plan to start with O gauge Alan ... just be aware of one thing, most of us would agree, space available does not equal limit on locos/wagons acquired!  You WILL end up with far more than the layout can accommodate :P

It was very kind of you all not to point out my mistake with the brake gear on the plywood van, it was however pointed out elsewhere so some delicate work with a scalpel managed to cut it free for the brake gear to be turned round and positioned correctly.

Just found your thread Alan, I'm looking forward to seeing your layout develop. The kits look good, cant wait to see them painted and weathered, I like your plan, you've made a good start.

Hi Alan,

What am I missing with the brake gear?  The hand is up, so the brakes are off?

Rich

It was the brake shoe unit that was on the wrong way round. It happens to most of us.

Wagons are now painted and awaiting decals and weathering. You may have noticed that at the moment I have not put the coupling hooks on as at the moment I am not sure whether to use 3 link couplings or Dingham couplings, any thoughts would be useful.
