Popular Post westerner
Mojo is in full swing at the moment. I decided that the siding leading to the colliery and furniture makers should be gated rather like the Sling Branch, so I decided to make a gate similar to the one at the Milkwall end of the Sling Branch, and just like tha one in the period modelled it will be left open although it is hinged. It will be placed on the tree side of the branch siding and will be slightly overgown in the open position. As I've said before nothing looks more like wood than wood so it was made out of the scap balsa I had lying about. It was first painted white as I assume the original was and then washed with a light brown and grey. When that was dry it was dry brushed with Tamiya Deck Tan. I do like the way the grain has been highlighted. Tomorrow it will be planted on the layout. 17
Popular Post westerner
Gate in place on the layout, trees have been felled to be able to place gate (they will be replaced when other undergrowth has grown round the open gate. Open Closed At long last the photos look more like the true colour, in reality they are fractionally darker, but not as dark or brown as the earlier photos. More photos when the weeds and undergrowth has grown and the trees "unfelled".

It falls into my "I WANT this layout!!" Category, which is hampered by a) how much Alan would want for it, and worse, b) how would I sneak it past SWMBO....?? 1 5

Popular Post westerner
Now weathered, perhaps alittle overdone, but it is almost time fo the passenger service to be taken away. All I need now is a driver and 1 or2 passengers and to change the destination blinds (any one any ideas). 20
woodenhead
I am concerned such a railbus has arrived in Blakeney, it can only mean the end of passenger services will soon be upon the branch. 4

sb67
Great photo's Alan, the rail bus looks great and fit's in with the layout really well. I only hope Woodenhead's wrong and it's appearance isn't a sign of impending doom!
Baggies1961
Hope I haven't missed this in the thread and apologies if I have, is it sound fitted Alan? I bought a railbus a few years ago but Iv never had it sound fitted as yet. Regards Julian.
westerner
My layout is DC(just 2 feeds) the sound fitting is in my head where I go BRMMM, BRMMM. or if it's the panniers chuf, chuff chuff. 5 6

MrWolf
A grand addition to the layout is that diesel railcar (I can almost hear my grandfather turning in his grave while I'm typing that statement!) and as others have said, nothing quite signifies the twilight of a rundown branchline like it's appearance! Popular Post westerner
This last week I have been finishing off a yard crane I started several weeks ago. I'm not sure how appropriate it is for the layout. The thoughts are that at one time timber in the form of trunks was loaded here, and that Frank Drake has to occasionally load and unload bits of unweildy machinery. It is now not often used. It still needs bedding in to the lauout and the brickwork around the edge of the circular paltform needs a few weeds etc. The problem with using string as the cable with a light plastic hook is that it will not lie straight down, as the crane is not going to be a working model I clipped a small clamp on the hook, which kept the cord tight, and then ran thin superglue down it, when dry this was painted with weathered balck and frame dirt. 23
34006
Just wondering, maybe there was a ring fastened to the base, or to the ground, to anchor the hook to. This would prevent the hook from swaying in the wind, and the local kiddies from using it as a "Tarzan" swing. Remember them? atb Phil.

Actually move something??!! He never moves his own backside, never mind anything else - I bet that sandwich is stale by now too!!! That crane has got even more rusty just while he's been leaning against his truck yakking. How he makes a living I just don't know!!! 1
