I'm now in a position to reveal what is hoped is the final line up for the second Warminster show and, in my view, its every bit as strong as the first. We have some fabulous layouts, three of which, North Ninth Street Yard, Orford and Hembourne are making their debut.

The line up of demonstrators is none too shabby either with the emphasis again on the practical skills required at the finescale end of the hobby.

If that wasn't enough we have full trade support and of course cakes from Kim's Kitchen!

Layouts

Wadebridge and Padstow 2FS

A rare opportunity to see the centrepiece of John Greenwood's wonderful North Cornwall system.

Chilcompton OO

Steve Jones recreation of the iconic S&D location high on the Mendip hills.

Orford 7mm

A beautifully observed slice of Suffolk from Paul Clarke.

Brew Street OO

An East Anglian industrial by way from serial layout builder Chris Nevard.

 Castlederg 4mm 3'gauge

More narrow gauge delights from the Emerald Isle from the irrepressible Andy Cundick.

 Vale Quarry Preservation 009

John Bruce takes a nostalgic look back at early 1970s narrow gauge preservation.

North Ninth Street Yard HO P87

A typical New York offline terminal on the Hudson River from MMRG members Neil Kinison and Steve Vaughan-Mennell.

Finally, a quartet of short listed entries from the Wild Swan/MRJ Cameo competition. The author and publisher of the book that inspired the competition will be in attendance along with all the judges.

Newton Heath Works 7mm, standard and narrow gauge

Martin Finney and friends scene is based on the ball clay railways of Purbeck in the mid 1950s.

Lanata Quay 3mm

GWR and LSWR broad, standard and mixed gauge in the west country in the last quarter of the nineteenth century from Nick Saltzman.

Alma Street Quay 7mm broad gauge

Richard Phipps delightful cameo offering is inspired by the West Somerset Mineral Railway and the inset tracks of the Weymoth Harbour Tramway. Richard himself forms part of the exhibit in full, period costume.

Hembourne 4mm EM

The GWR's Golden Valley Railway in Herefordshire in the 1930s is the inspiration for Paul Ash's entry.

Demonstrators

Maggie and Gordon Gravett

Rumor has it that there's a new layout in the early stages that requires some new buildings.

Martyn Welch and Barry Norman

Martin and Barry will be bringing various 7mm items currently crossing their respective benches.

Simon deSouza and Iain Rice

The Abbott and Costello of finescale modelling. Simon will be whittling something wonderful in plasticard and Iain will be discussing loco building.

John Birkett-Smith

Painting backscenes in acrylics.

Andrew Campbell

Andrew, supported by other members of the S7 group,  will have a section of his S7 layout Jericho Road, a GWR branch line set in Somerset in 1912.

Trade

Laurie Griffin Miniatures

Green Scenes

Wildswan/Titfield Thunderbolt books

Branchlines

SE Finecast

Youchoos

Frome Model shop

Modelu

MMRG 'shelf queens' bring and buy stand

Further to my announcement on the Cameo Challenge thread, there will be quite a strong "Cameo element" to this year's Warminster show. Displayed will be the two "highly commended" entries

Alma Street Quay

Hembourne

And also, from the "main shortlist" which will have appeared at Railex two weeks before:

Lananta

Newton Heath

All of the judges should be at the show too, plus me, but I have been suckered into some bookstall thing.

I'm very close to finalising the lineup for the show and will be in a position to post it in the next few days. In the mean time, here's a picture of Paul Ash's delightful EM gauge Hembourne which we are proud to announce will also be making its debut at Warminster.

On the positive side, for those who found it the top floor bar overlooking the racecourse was nice and quiet with a full range of beverages :)

Errrrr...  what top floor bar and what race course?

What a splendid line up. The challenge was to maintain the quality of the first year............and this appears to be case.....if not better..

Agree entirely, although sadly I can't be there this time.  I will be at the 40th Anniversary Bash of the 7mm Narrow Gauge Assoc on the same day.

Disappointed, Dave.

Yet again this show co-incised with one I'm exhibiting at! (Mendip 2019).

I would really like to take in one of these excellent shows, most frustrating.

That's a real shame John. Send somebody over with some flyers or posters so we can tell all our visitors to come and see you in Doulting on the sunday.

With Jerry's permission, I will be bringing a handful of N gauge test prints with me to sell at the Warminster show tomorrow. While this are only beta tests and not fully completed kits, I believe that they might be of interest to those willing to undertake some scratch-building to make them complete. As with all 3D prints there will be an element of post finishing work required to get the best out of them. Prices will vary depending on the quality of the print and number of parts but will be between £12 and £20 - reflecting that these are not finished production products.

I will be there with "Wild Swan lite" and a selection of other new books, including the very fabulous "Transition" from Colin Gifford.

Transition.jpg

There are four Cameos there, including the "winning" entry From Martin Finney and Mike Baker and two additional shortlisted entries, Paul Ash's very lovely and new to the circuit "Hembourne" and Rich Phipps' wacky 7mm scale "Watchmouth Railway", featuring lots of scratchbuilt buildings, many of which are local to Bath.

Plus the less usually seen Chris Nevard and his layout and many other delights.

A great line up as others have said - well done Jerry!

See you tomorrow....

Simon
