SDJR7F88
Sadly will be a bit of much to carry with the gear for Amiens. But hopefully one day I'll get them to a show, possibly on a new layout
SDJR7F88
The third installment of a little series of videos, in which we take a closer look at a number of WW1 - Railway Operating Division (ROD) Re-Numbering projects. In this video we take a look at the Bachmann G2A 'Super D', which I've backdated into ROD Black. A number of LNWR G's were sent to the front hauling heavy coal and supply trains. ROD 1634 served between May 11 1917 to July 17 1919, but briefly returned to Crewe for repairs in May 1918. The Bachmann model is of course the later G2a rebuild, with tender cab, later firebox, ect, however ROD 1634 was rebuilt to this specification later in her career, lasting well into BR days as 49113. Hope you enjoy! https://youtu.be/EIkNNF0EIkNNF0xT90
RMweb Gold Corbs Posted April 4, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 4, 2019 You might find this interesting although it's not been renumbered - an ex-LSWR 0-6-0 in Jerusalem, still in LSWR livery, hauling very American style stock! Stumbled across it on another forum. 3 1

Really does show how far some of these engines got, and how some served in their original liveries

1ngram
Just ask for the ROD letters I got them to do for me. Someone else already did and they came to me and asked my permission to let him have a set. Just do the same. I told them that anyone could have them as they come from a published font. Here's the email I sewnt John Peck KENNETH CLARK <kennclark@btinternet.com> To:john.r.peck@precisiondecals.com 29 Jun 2018 at 14:35 I was given your email address as a firm able to print white transfers. I'm attempting a ROD cameo layout in 4mm after reading both of Wm Aves excellent books on the ROD railways of WW1. The lettering on their locos was very simple and I attach a file below showing what a transfer/decal would be required to allow anyone to letter/number a single loco. This would allow the letters and numbers to be cut out and placed in position depending on the length of the relevant tender. The typeface is 28 point Arial (using l as 1) and is white. Maybe they could be a little more separate but I don't know how to do this. I did the image in PAINT but it can easily be done in WORD. I would want a sheet of these to match your minimum cost (£10/£15?)in a white strong enough to be put on black tenders. Can you come back to me on this giving me an idea of how many would be printed on such a sheet (I know a few other people interested in these so I would like to know how many could be got for what price. Obviously if you need the "artwork"(sic) in any other way I would try to provide it. But remember I am an elderly computer illiterate! In this video we take a look at the Hornby J36 Class 0-6-0, "Haig" which I've backdated into in ROD Black. Being an Ex ROD locomotive, she's gained her original ROD number, ROD 5650. So far work has included removing the BR Early Emblem and running number, adding the her ROD numbers and builders plate. So far I've decided to keep her name on the splasher. Next stage is to fit digital sound, from Wheeltappers Digital Sound, plus also paint the buffer beams black. Hope you enjoy! SDJR7F88
A look at the eagerly anticipated ROD Khaki 'Dean Goods' from Oxford Rail, fitted with Digital Sound. During WW1, 62 of these locomotive were sent to the Western Front running under the Railway Operating Division. This latest variant of the popular GWR 2301 Class 'Dean Goods' from Oxford Rail, depicts ROD 2308 in smart ROD Khaki Livery. Like previous versions, the model features a high detail, including fine handrails, extensively detailed cab interior, as well as a weighty die-cast construction. I've also fitted the model with Digital Sound from Coastal DCC Sound. In this video we see ROD 2308 in action, hauling a short supply train. Hope you enjoy! SDJR7F88
Latest WW1 ROD project is under way, however has provided a bit of a struggle at times... Baldwin 4-6-0's were a rare beast used on the Western Front. Too date, I've only ever seen one picture of this interest machine in ROD service, which brings us to the model. The model is a Bachmann USA Baldwin 4-6-0, fitted with Value DCC Sound, which I managed to pick-up for a bargain price of £94! First step was to add buffers, which was were I had my first problem. The buffer beams are made from diecast, and proved troublesome to drill. After a number of attempts, I used them as guide holes, before gluing the buffers into position. Next step was giving her, her ROD Identity. The text and numbers on the tender were very stubborn, but after a good rub with thinners, a Sharpie Marker and cotten Buds, the text finally was removed. However, when I got to the cabside this was a slightly different story. The number seemed to come off quite easy at first, but then I spotted it was coming off with the cab paint too, due to it also being diecast. Shortly after taking these pictures, I have the cab sides a light coat of black. Thankfully a number plate will go in this location, plus when complete, the model will be toned down with some weathering. I'm still debating what to do with the original running number on the front done, as it's in a very hard to get to location, will have to see.. Let me know what you think!
