Dapol Pannier numberplates

I would like to fit another set of plates to my Dapol Pannier.

 

However, before ordering, could I ask about removal of the existing plates?

 

Has anyone done this and if so did the plates come off easily or not?

I haven’t yet ordered simply because I’d like to be sure the original plates can be safely removed before investing.

 

They're not cheap so better to be sure first!

Yes they come off: I cant even remember doing it so cant have been difficult. There is a raised outside line which you can see on this photo when i was halfway through repainting. It isn't ideal but I decided to live with it.

Yes they prise off easily with a sharp scalpel blade just eased in behind them to assist.

Narrow Planet is the go-to nameplate company - their plates fit the space precisely, although the smokebox no.plates are very slightly shorter than the Dapol ones. See my model below.

Just to add Narrow Planet will make smokebox plates to the required length if you ask. Smoke box and Beyer Peacock front splasher plate were resized for this. The cabside plates could do with being a fraction bigger - Dapol are contacting them for a custom design for the 14xx.
