Marc, I measured the wooden sleepers on the lightweight section of track on Duddon Bridge today. They are 60mm long, 5mm wide and 3mm deep.

Attached photo hopefully gives a better view of them than the ones I shared before:

IIRC, Tim bought long strips of wood to cut the sleepers from - probably from Cornwall Model Boats as they stock a variety of sizes etc.

Forgot to ask what did you use for a track gauge?

Just a set of standard 32mm track rollers (like the type produced by C&L). We just made sure that the Code 100 rails were tucked right up against the inside edge of the track gauge before it was pinned in place.

I thought you were going to say that. My 33mm ones are a really sloppy fit on the rail head I might have to make some NS fold up ones as S7 track standards are that much tighter than FS. to the drawing board.

Marc, did you ever make any progress on this? Am on holiday in the area at the moment (less than a 1mile from the Black Beck site) which reminded me of your project.

I’ve been looking at the route of the tramway on old OS maps, and it does look like there were a couple of sidings en-route next to the road crossings that I reckon were for public use - am assuming the occasional wagon load of coal etc. for the locality?

Hi Neil,

Its going to be my next project after I have finish WC Boggs.  I'm working on the rolling stock at the moment. hopefully going to turn some wheels down to the correct profile over Easter. I'm going to use Code100FB rail pined to wood sleepers.

You can walk the track bed from the Rusland pool hotel up to the entrance to the works as the road to Bouth.

I shall look forward to seeing the progress in due course.

Had a quick wander over to the site earlier on the way back from Windermere. The entrance is very modellable with the road crossing and road bridge over the river. I managed a few photos too:

The building at the side of the road is the cooperage and the outside of the road is the site of one of the sidings which could be for public use. The other one is as the tramway crosses the A590 by the ruslad pool.

The whole tramway has fascinated me for years.

Great for modelling but not sure it's that good for operation.
