Looks like an order for the Cargo wagons is in order. Did not realise that as well as a wagon wagons there is a loco shed as well. hunslet Shunter kit from Judith Edge purchased and offer made for a club member to build for use on the layout. enginelane Posted November 12, 2020 Author Share Posted November 12, 2020 Tiers and second lockdown has again severely curtained progress on the layout as club rooms closed and no meetings of the group can take place. However the team remains active with Neale busy learning how to programme his 3D printer to make various bits and bobs . Ultimately he is hoping to create the masters for the casting of the household waste containers. There are examples out there already but with an estimated 45 plus containers bought in is going to be a costly option. Chris is busy scratch building open bogie wagons and re livering locos I am busy researching into the possible traffic flows that could be seen on the layout. Solid refuse fuel , SRF, will be brought into the household waste sidings to power the cement works and a nearby but off scene power station. A thread on RMweb showed up that ash from such power stations is collected and moved by rail. On the Model loaded ash wagons will come into the household waste sidings with the ash being sent to the off scene limestone quarry that supplies the cement works. Spot loads of limestone will be loaded into open bogie wagons via a front loader from the household waste loading pad. Cement traffic in and out of the works, hoppers and vans to load bagged cement Container traffic and freight on main line Nuclear fuel trains to the nearby nuclear power station Mainline long distance and local passenger traffic Infrastructure traffic In total all should provide viewers with a range and variety of trains to view as well as keeping up operational interest. Dunbar cement works will be moving to bogie cement stock in the near fixture retiring the 4 wheel wagons but on Bardun they will be a mixture. Bogie stock is hard to come by at the moment but picked up a secondhand version recently. Decided to make to make it so looks like having a change of owners so Castle in ghost livery and weathered. It was sold as non working rear light which does work so need to work out how to properly secure the lighting circuit and switch and then add to the Bardun stock. 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

GBRF 66711 worked this on very short term hire at least once. torness flask basicly anything kingmoor had to hand 20s,37s,57s,66s freightliner bins from Northenden. ran to millerhill then back down to oxwellmains. GMC blue waste containers on this North Bylth - fort william alcans RETB fitted GBRF 66s Dalzell steel DB 66 borders rail train EWS class 90 with long weld rail wagons GB tyne yard - millerhill, GB 66 with various engineers wagons. 66709 was a regular on this network rail HST to craigentinny for powercar swap passenger XC mostly 220/221s with the odd HST set LNER hsts and 91s 2019/2020 freight torness flask 68s or 88s North Bylth - fort william alcans RETB fitted GBRF 66s Dalzell steels DB 66 doncaster - millerhill engineers Colas rail 56 or 70 Tees dock - mossend intermodal DB 66s Tees Dock - Elderslie GBRF intermodal Sinfin - grangemouth tanks Colas 56 scotrail HSTs from doncaster to Edinburgh refurbishment moves passenger LNER class 800s TPX class 802 XC class 220s/221s, HST sets on top of that you can run almost anything on a charter set as this part of the ECML does see a fair bit of variety As for the shunters they are named 'Black Agnes' and 'Doon Hill'. The flow went to DB until early/mid 2019 then stopped for nearly a year, then Colas won the flow back with the first Colas working being middle of this year. It's now settled down to one a week-ish; about thrice a month. Due to siding constraints in Sinfin, the train loads to 9 tanks which is the maximum. It has run with older TEAs under Colas operation first time around but now runs with TDAs, unfortunately not available in model form. Class 56s have been the traction throughout this year. I understand that the plant received a grant to build another loader on the UP side as reached capacity on the DOWN side. I did not realise it was going to have such an effect on the Track Plan. On our Model the waste sidings will be still there as when operating the existing layout Troutons having a secondary traffic flow was an attractive feature to visitors when the layout was being exhibited. Sadly there are no exhibitions at the moment but have to plan for the future and Bardun has been designed so that visitor can travel the length of the layout and see a series of different views and trains being run. The layout will have 6 Operators working as 2 teams of 3 and needs a large wheelbase van so it will not be a cheap layout for an exhibition manager but aiming to create a layout that when being operated and build quality provides a worthwhile investment for a club. Red line indicates the buildings that have been currently built. This image means can now start to mock up more buildings as it shows areas not currently aware of. Chris has completed the painting and detailing of the DCR and Puma livery locos at work on his Burnroyd layout. Light weathering to be added. That with the bogie version means stock for the bagged cement now complete. The wagons look very nice, but do feel a little light. I will weather up not as severely as the bogie stock!
