All in the club rooms. A member went down the other week to check on the clubrooms and said it was like discovering the Marie Celeste, things just left on tables, layouts slowly gathering dust

virginhst539
That class 69 is superb! Is there any news on the bardun layout since the last updated during the lockdown?
enginelane
Thanks for the enquiry. Yes, to reduce costs to the club then it was decided to use the old Troutons boards. They did not give up their track easily and we had to take off the baseboard tops and turn them over. This involved cutting off a hell of pins that had been used to secure the tops. All baseboards have now been prepared except the two end boards which need modifying, one to take thecsea cliff scene and the other the waste rubbish disposal site. Track plan confirmed after testing out all the moves we want to make. Additional stock purchased eg Azuma. Class 68. 3d printed domestic waste containers. All track purchased.
enginelane
Progress has been slower than hoped since the last post. Preparation for the first club show for 3 years took priority. The show was successful and agreement made that the 60 th show will take place over the weekend of 30th September 1st October. The club committee met earlier this month and agreed that the team could have space in the clubs to erect the whole 24ft of the layout and that it has approval and budget for a further 12 months. it will not be ready for September but the aim is to have a display of progress and perhaps space permitting perhaps a couple of boards at the show in September. Meanwhile work on stock continues. The scrapyard wagons from Troutons have now been located to the solid refuse waste ash that is left after burning in the recycled fuel power stations. This is collected and having no commercial use if sent to land fill. Due to the high amounts of carbon black in the ash wagons do get very dirty. Balsa wood loads with magnets buried in the wood have been fitted. The unloading siding is an arm stretch away from the operator position and a magnet wand has been constructed to remove the loads. wagons need data panels a clearing and brake wheels painted off white.
