When is the pre-order deadline for these, very tempted for a triple pack of the weathered ones and the plain ones. I think they will suit 2010 onwards fuel trains...

And a pack of the KBA barrier wagons from my 20's

Good evening XChris, apologies for not replying sooner.

The order book for pre-orders will likely be closing over the next month ahead of production starting.

Please regularly visit our website and social media pages as we will post updates regarding this.

Hope that helps.

This gives a little taste of what Standard did at Heywood- I lived 200 miles away, so didn't go there too often! https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/standardheywood

And I went to Reddish less often https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/standardreddish

... and I've finally used the long summer evenings to photograph the Jessop Jarrow to Linsey train*, which can have the odd one in the consist including VTG85972 https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/totalclassatea/ea6adf39e and 85961 https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/totalclassatea/ea6b192a6 (also I have it in excellent condition in 1994 https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/totalclassatea/ee71d2a2c ) and 85963 https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/totalclassatea/ea6b19289 - also photographed in 1992 in some detail. https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/totalclassatea/ee71d2a53

It might just be me, but to my eyes the weathered version appears to be too brown and is a bit too heavy.  Looking at the three photographs that Paul has posted that were taken in May 2021, all still seem to have lighter patches on both the barrel and the ends, which are presumably where the grey livery underneath still shows through the rust and grime that has built up over the top.

Are all of the weathered wagons going to be like that or will the showcased version be the heaviest weathering and the other two or three will have lighter patches (like the KBA)?

Good afternoon Dungrange, thank you for your post and comments.

There will be four different weathered versions of our TEA, the example that you mention will have a heavier weathering finish. This is to offer some variety and try to replicate the weathering similar to those in the links below:

85970 at barnetby TEA No.VTG 85938

Tank TEA VTG 85931 Didcot

TEA No.VTG 85931

Please note that each side of the wagon will be different.

The other three weathered versions will be different with similar weathering to the KBA wagons.

I hope that helps.

Perhaps it's a lighting issue, but none of the wagons in these photographs seem to be quite as brown as the model shots posted on 25 June (apart from perhaps the barrel end in the third photograph).  I note that test shots were posted on both 4 February and 21 February and these appear to be a lighter, and in my opinion, a more realistic brown colour.  In fact some shots, like the very top one in the above post seem to have weathered to a much greyer shade of brown.

If each wagon is has different weathering and the weathering on each side is different then that means that the triple pack that I have on order should have six slightly different weathering patterns, so hopefully that means that there will be at least three that I like. :-)  Some of us are very hard to please!!!!

I'll admit I thought the weathered models looked very strange until I saw the few I referred to earlier. I expect I'm mistaken but I cannot remember seeing a grey wagon go a similar colour. There were plenty of grey tank wagons and they got covered in grime and faded but brown... But as usual Cavalex have done their homework.

Indeed we are! I wanna know when you’re going to announce the Murco TEA’s and TDA’s to compliment these :jester:

Hi Shoey,

The old Lima TEA body is a good fit for the Murco TEA 853xx series, I'm afraid the only route to a TDA is to have a good at scratchbuilding one.

The schelerien bogies can be sourced from either S-Kits/Stenson Models/Olivias. Non are quite right for the TEA as they're missing the outside shock absorbers.

We have contacted all customers regarding the second payments for our forthcoming TEA wagons ahead of production starting next month. If you have not heard from us or have any questions please let us know.

We are still open for new pre-orders via our website below, however this will close once production commences, with our retailers stocking the TEAs when they arrive in the UK.

Good morning Eric, it was nice to meet you too, thanks for the photos of Harefield . We are very pleased that you like the KBA barrier wagons.

I was a little worried that we would never see it again.....

Hello D9502. Sorry to hijack the thread but those look brilliant. I have 10 of these to do for my Little man (and myself) and are just waiting on bogies and buffers as they are a bit battered and bruised. If you don't mind me asking what paint / colours did you use and is the Murco Branding homemade or Commercial?

Many thanks Tralrage

We’re really looking forward to attending the Glasgow Show this weekend - if you’re attending come and visit us at stand A13 to see our latest samples and project news! We have a number of production samples flown in especially for the show, including Total TEA samples.

To get in the mood for the show we have some prototype inspiration of the Total TEAs with 47380 'Immingham' crawling towards Acton Main Line with the 6E50 Langley to Lindsey oil tanks.
