perrydavidfleet
I've had an idea for many year to model my local station 'Winchfield' situated between Basingstoke and Fleet. My plan is to model the track layout as close as I can to the 1930/40's including goods yards. For many years my family have farmed near by at Potbridge owning and farming the land either side of the banks at Potbridge. I still farm it to this day. My Grandfather remembers delivering sugar beet to the loading bays with tractor and trailer in the mid - late 50's and also potatoes to the military loading bay and having to shovel them out of the trailer into wagons. He recalls many memories of watching locomotives wheel slip out of the station. This year i've decided to make the effort and start planning and building 'Winchfield' I have researched for plans & photos of the station and thought that I would share with you the 'Potential layout'. It may not be Exact but I feel its close enough. My plan is to build Winchfield and then slowly build a loop over time around the room adding several features. I ran out of track on the planning demo I was using. As mochas I wouldn't have liked to I haven't added the central platform due to space restriction. Looking down towards Basingstoke. I will also add some photos of Winchfield I have collected recently, if anyone has any photos they wish to share of the station, goods yard etc they would be greatly appreciated. RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted March 4, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 4, 2019 A nice choice. Reasonable compact for a four-track mainline station.

Southernman46
Nice looking project - presumably it would have been your land we accessed through for the embankment repairs at the R. Whitewater culvert back in 2009 ???

RMweb Premium Hal Nail Posted March 13, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 13, 2019 Is it worth putting in the gentle curve through the station? I always think it adds a little visual interest to avoid all the lines being exactly parallel to the base board edges.
RMweb Premium Ian Morgan Posted March 13, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 13, 2019 But this section of the line between Farnborough and Basingstoke is well known for being a dead straight race track. Adding a curve would remove any link with reality.
Zomboid
The down lines curve round the (long gone) fast lines platform at both Hook and Winchfield, but the ups are straight from Old Basing to Farnborough. The down line curves should add some interest. And who said that straight lines have to be parallel to the board edge?

I have thought about this, as the down line and platform at Winchfield do have curve on them
