RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted April 4, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 4, 2019 It clashes most years, unfortunately, as I'd love to invite Steve Howe's Lower Rose Goods to Taunton. Enjoy their show, it's usually very good.

Seriously, there will be a non-meat pasty option, but there will also be meat pasty and pie options. As to whether the trip will be worth it, others have made the journey from your area in the past, and some much further. I am biased, of course, but the event has gone from strength to strength since I stopped organising it, so yes, it's definitely worth the trip in my view, especially if you combine it with a weekend (perhaps a long weekend) in Swagonia, sampling other local attractions (bgman - no comments, please) and fayre, etc. Stubby will have to comment on the rum, but the venue really isn't licenced, as far as I know, for that type of beverage. But if Spams doesn't get his rum, it might yet be a rum do, who knows, these 'Z' gauge modellers are just so unpredictable. 3 1
RMweb Gold Donw Posted April 4, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 4, 2019 Perhaps the most distant visitor was from Melbourne, but as he is Cornish perhaps he could detact the genuine article from that distance. He also brought a layout with him. Don

I will definitely look into the possibility of making the trip as it looks like a fantastic event. I may be able to tie it in to visiting relatives in the deep south. I am a fan of a meaty-based pastry treat too..... so would be happy to partake in both. Obviously all in the name of sampling your West Country goodies and reporting back to the relevant authorities up here. Cake is always appreciated too! I imagine the climate in your part of the world will be postively Mediterranean compared to the frozen North East. I haven't got much of a beer belly to be honest but I will work on that on the day by indulging in pasties and cake!

Stottie, pasty, cake & trains all on the same day - it's getting better all the time . . . . 1

devonseasider
True, but you wouldn't want to stuff one of those with thin sliced beef, would you? Actually, come to think of it . . . . 1

When I had a spell living in Suffolk I used to always go back from a trip home with a bag of stotties and supply of pease pudding! It all sounds like a combination for a prize winning day doesn't it! 3 hours ago, bgman said: Never had one but I do prefer a nice Tottie though ! Oh you're missing out...
