I have been weathering for a number of years, primarily on my own stock. I work in the medium of paints (primarily enamels) and powders, utilising several different techniques (washes, drybrushing, airbrush etc). I like to work from photos where whenever possible, even better when the client has a particular photo to hand.

Experience working in numerous scales (4mm, 7mm etc) on locomotives, coaches, wagons and general rolling stock.

Feel free to contact me at tomfosterweathering@gmail.com or PM me to discuss things further.

I particularly like the LNER era pacifics, Tom!

And I notice that one of the inspection hatches on Capercaillie is open, which is a nice touch.

Cheers Mark!

I can’t claim credit for the hatch, it’s on the Hornby tooling. It’s a nice model (think the tooling is coming up to 14/15 years old).

I have a little update coming later today for the thread.

Same number as mine!

Can't be having that.....................................

All my ex-GWR locos are 84J and are ones I saw when I was a lad.

I wish you all the very best in your venture, Tom,

I'm delighted to have several items displaying your weathering on my Little Bytham. You really seem to have that 'natural' touch.

Originally built by Mike Edge from a PDK kit. Re-motored by me, and painted/lined/lettered/numbered by me. Your weathering just 'makes' this model.

A Bachmann A2, renumbered/renamed, detailed and improved by me. I've not seen more natural-looking weathering. Just as I remember seeing VELOCITY, Tom (though I need to alter that shedplate!).

As you know, I don't have many RTR locos, but with your weathering, I retain one or two, including this Hornby B1. New bogie wheels, a new chimney, a new identity and your weathering. What more could I ask?

Regards,

Tony.

Thank you Tony! The B16 will always be a firm favourite!

Yes, as are all of mine, as I model Bala and the Blaenau branch.

The one in the photo above was for a client, but I also have my own 5810, seen here on Cwm Prysor.

Mine is an original K's kit, the first I built around 1972 in 00 and rebuilt to P4 around 1980.  It still has 00 spaced frames but with simple compensation between the middle and rear carrying axle, Sharman wheels and Romford gears with a DS10 motor. Works fine.

Many Thanks Peter. I'll be starting work on the next batch of three for my client in the next few weeks. I do find it interesting working on stock that is that bit different from your own (in my case Western Region Steam).

Something a bit different. A client's Sutton Locomotive Works Class 24. The client's specification was as she was the last in service, she was often well kept.

Body given a sheen to represent the condition she was seen in photos circa 1979/1980.
