25 years since Privatisation today

The start of  ...    Does anybody know when it was finally completed - certainly several years later?

 

Oddly the concern I worked for passed from BR ownership to direct Govt ownership with our MD reporting directly to somebody in the Dept of Transport, and no interference ensued, just general direction in a fairly loose format.

It certainly opened the box and let a lot of problems out...

BR certainly survived into the 2000’s.  The last chairman being Alastair Morton

The first transfer was to Railtrack took place on 1st April 1994 and the last operational railway activity was transferred in November 1997.

The BRB continued until early 2001.

BRB (Residuary) took over many of the remaining property functions until it was wound up in 2013.
