None of the stuff on Dr Who was really scary, except the Statues. I think they were in Dr Who or maybe Torchwood?

Look, when you were 7 or 8, lived in London and used the Tube regularly, the Cybermen were definitely scary. A good job Quatermass and the Pit was just before my time and I never saw it until much later.

I beg to differ. I was terrified of spiders for years after a giant one crawled on the back of Sarah Jane. :scared:

Now we have a discussion about a nerdy TV series on a model railway forums. Can it get any worse?

Dr Who - David Tennant, Billie Piper....  "Don't blink!"

Actually it was David Tennant and Freema Agyeman (Martha Jones)

And the episode was just called "Blink".

Beats talking about how gold is my medallion.

Mine isn't very gold, ,my cheapo monthly digital sub for BRM self renewed and as it's half the cost of Gold membership I will have to stick to my limited back catalogue of paper BRMs.  If it wasn't for the sub I already have I would have gone for gold though

Sorry Phil, we are so easily distracted.

Ah Jason, but you were probably just a wee lad when Dr Who was on and spiders were made of foam and I was already an old git with kids and I had to put on a brave face. Now, when I first saw Alien and had stopped ogling Ripley, I almost wet my knickers when the Alien did the chest burst thing. Then there was the head in the boat under water in Jaws......:clapping:

I saw a bit of Quatermass. The figure that went through the wall did me no good whatsoever.

Depends on which version of "the Pit", either the original BBC TV production or the later Hammer film.  I prefer the BBC one!

The BBC version is available on iPlayer...  :scared:

I've only seen the Hammer film. More than scary enough for me, thanks all the same.

Ian, as an 8 year old we had only recently bought a TV set for the Coronation so everything that was on was watched! I recall watching the very first Quatermass serial mostly from behind the setee!

The theme music (Holtz's 'Mars the Bringer of War') alone was enough to frighten me silly. In the first series IIRC the Earth was bombarded by meteorites which contained living black goo which did dreadful things to human beings!

All really scary stuff to an older child! Loads of it can be found on u-tube.

How about this for a scary image from 'The Pit'

Now answer me honestly: When I go Gold, will there be more or less Dr Who chat?

No-one's been discussing cardboard scenery and rubbish monsters in the Gold Lounge. ;)

Or much else yet. :D

Looks like the First Class lounge of the Titanic, moments before they stopped to take on more ice....
