I too want to see RMWeb succeed and will happily pay for Gold membership.  If I go for WoR now, will I be able to ‘downgrade’ later?  And related to that, how far away (approx and without guarantee) is your ‘new Gold only’ product?

Paul.

If you pay for 'Gold' via a monthly Direct Debit you'll be able to cancel should you want to 'downgrade' once we launch a second membership.

It’s frustrating, I like the gold price point, and the content of the magazines, but I have given up reading them since the change from the app to the browser, because it is an awful user experience on the iPad with pages that don’t simply fit to screen. This means every page needs scrolling up and down on and isn’t enjoyable.

I will therefore be looking to downgrade my revenue to Warner’s simply because the experience of the benefits (beyond mweb) is poorer than the experience when I initially signed up.

I have no issue with paying for Gold but all I'm interested in is just the RMWeb stuff.

Both Andy & Steve above have said there is a 2nd membership about to happen & I will be able to downgrade so I'll get that done maybe tomorrow online or by phone on Monday.

Thanks

No one forces you to use all the WoR stuff, so you could sign up for Gold and just ignore it.

If you mean "Can I have a cheaper Gold membership" then that's a different product, which is what is being worked on.

Hello Phil.

Yes that's what I intended to do but found it a bit of a faff signing up and didn't want to become a member of some other communities/groups.   What I expected when I clicked on join the gold group was just to be taken to the gold site and be signed up not all the other information.

I never went back to see if the other Wendy mentioned this week was ever explained.

Gold gives access via Exact Editions to BRM plus our other railway monthlies which I use on 27" monitors day in, day out (Win 10). One of its best features is the search facility.

Something I have been trying to work out using exact editions. I have a 22 inch monitor and was wondering if there is a way it can display the content in a full screen mode? If I could see the pages without the menu at the top and the navigation bar at the bottom it would make it that little bit better. Whilst I am like others who though the step back from having app based access on a tablet was a retrograde step from a user experience, I did take Gold to get access to the archive specifically along with the free ticket at some point. (Oh and if you could see your way to me winning a WOR comp at some point that will mean a few hours being less middle aged and grumbly :D )

It's a little-known fact that the RMWGold price is to cover the costs of AndY's Valium bill as a result of running the site..........

:jester:

Thought for a moment their you were saying AndY's Viagra bill ! :maninlove:

Not sure if its at all doable but as a gold member I really wouldn't mind being able to opt in to seeing modelling/ railway related adds

If you're using Windows there's the Magnifier, under the 'Windows Ease of Access' menu. I assume Apple has something similar. You can make it whatever size you like. :good_mini:

I really like the old RmWeb Gold service, where we were paying a bit extra for the forum, and got all the BRM back issues. I'm personally not that fussed about all the extras in World of Railways Plus that we seem to be paying more for.

Acces to ad free RMweb, current and back issues of BRM and Traction for less than a quid a week. What’s not to like?

If, and it’s a big if, we are paying a tad more for World of Railways plus I think I can live with that.

Please tell me where you can get it for less than a quid a week. I'm currently paying £5.99 a month. And, as I said, I'm paying for more than I really want or even need.

My last RMweb Gold subscription annual payment was just under £50.

For my two-penneth I personally like the deal AndyY has got for us. £5.99 - lets face it when I was buying magazines I was paying £3.99-£4.50 ish for a printed magazine, that was half full of advertisements.  With this deal, I am supporting rmWeb, getting to flick through BRM and read the bits I want, and dip into the Traction archive. I dont dip in every month but its still cheaper than buying it each month - and I haven't got to store it!

If people dont want the magazines, then yea I suppose there should be a slightly less costly option to give them that, but dont lose what we have in the process!!  I do agree tho, if there is anyway of getting 'app' access on an iPad back into the mix that would be great, but equally Im fully aware of what basic apps cost to develop, let along those that have to work with magazine systems, so like many things is one of those nice to have features which has a high hidden cost to it.

Rich

Interesting.
A 40% price rise.
Does RMweb Gold still exist or am I in for a shock when the next direct debit is taken?

The original Gold was a lower rate than WoR+ when the extra mags were added in but we had a one-off special price on one of the virtual show weekends. If you chose to pay monthly DD or annual DD when it was taken out your renewal will be at the price you signed up at.

HTH.

Thanks Andy.

I bet you wish forums were only open 5 days a week 9 to 5.

I also like the World of Railways plus deal, duly signed up, but cannot access any of it’s features, even though I can log in (apparently).

Tried using the Contact us route with no response. Even received my d/d correspondence from Warners.

But still dead as a Dodo. Any help out there please?

Hello AY Mod,

Have logged previously, using the link given, prior to my original post. This took me to my ‘station‘. No access to video plus, trackplans, or Gold member enhancements.

In my profile, the only thing I didn’t do was tick the box for a free trial of WORplus (given I had signed up on 17th).

Definitely no email re Exact Editions received.
