LMS loco allocations

There is at least one very useful website [http://www.brdatabase.info/index.php]  tracing the history - shed allocations - of all British Railways locos.

However there's a fatal flaw in that it starts off with where a locomotive was sitting in 1948 and is silent as to its earlier history.

Is there a comparable site for LMS and other pre-grouping allocations.

My particular interest at the moment lies in a Black 5 no 5162/45162. In 1948 it was at Perth South and afterwards went on to an obligatory stint at Polmadie and then Carlisle Kingmoor before spending 10 years at Aberdeen Ferryhill. Very much a Scottish loco from 1948 therefore, but what about before then? I seem to recall someone mentioning that there was a big changeover after the war, bringing quite a number of locos north. 5162 one of them or was it always Scottish?

From 5162's EHC:

Crewe (North or South no ststed0 4/8/35; Carlisile N (Kingmoor) 28/9/35; Inverness 4/7/36; St Rollox 4/9/43; Perth 7/8/46 Polmadie 11/7/53; Ferryhill 23/8/54; Dalry Road 9/8/64; St Margerets 4/10/65; Withdrawn 19/11/66. These will all be Period Ending.

Interesting stuff "2968".  So yes.  More or less a ScR loco for it's lifetime.

Thanks

I do have pre-1948 allocations for some locos, mostly LNER (I have all GWR allocations going back to 1903 but haven't had time to enter them - direct from documents held at the National Archive). I will enter data for the Black 5's at some point from the source you cite, but illness and work take precedence I'm afraid.

While I'm here, does anybody have renumbering data for LMS locos - I'm looking for detailed info on locos numbered by the LMS - including duplicates - I really need dates. Once I have that I can populate further allocations (the allocations match to loco numbers - obviously - but if I don't know what number any one loco had at any one time, the process is nigh on impossible).

The 4 books in the series "Locomotives at the grouping" bya Casserley and Johnston give renumbering of the big 4 locos to the nearest year e.g Vol 3 gives MR 1P 2-4-0s 153 and 155 renumbered to 20153 and 20155 in 1934. They also give the pre-1923 company and post-1923 numbers   You can find these 2nd hand -  Bookfinder.com is a good places to start .

Thanks Andy, I'll look these up. Is there any more detailed info for these renumberings anyone?
