RMweb Gold 46444 Posted May 27, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 27, 2019 Bit more topiary this afternoon. Have glued the foilage on the rear tree and completed the foreground tree acting as a view blocker. Really pleased with this Woodland Scenics products as well as the advice in Gordon Gravett's book on Broadleaf Trees. Also I've made up some Bluebells and Primroses. Finally Lilford arrives with the evening train under a moody late May sky Started work on the bushes for the rear of the layout but will continue shortly. 1722
That last photo is really quite something. I can't quite put my finger on it, perhaps it's the slightly faded appearance that is emphasised by the sky. Whatever it is, it's superb. Great work. 3
RMweb Gold bcnPete Posted June 1, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 1, 2019 Excellent progress Mark and I agree that the last photo looks fab I think this will be another winner like your last layout once it hits the circuit. Remember to get a few layout business cards printed for shows...always good for people to take something away with them...
RMweb Gold 46444 Posted June 16, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 16, 2019 Bit more progress on Wadenhoe Road. Scenics almost complete. Need to fix the drapes on shortly.. More soon, Cheers, Mark 10

Almost ready to take on the road...then you can consider matters 2mm Thanks Pete Can't beat a nice neat bush but in this case they're a bit wild and in need of some trimming. Some good techniques learnt from Mr. Gravett in his brilliant Grassland & Landscape Modelling book guided me along the way . Pleased with how the layout is looking. Good track cleaning session as well so all going to plan. Need to get the drapes fitted then done and dusted... I'm also going to change all the couplings to PECO 009 on the Bachmann stock as they're not compatible. Cheers, Mark
south_tyne
I can only echo the comments above Mark, the layout is looking magnificent. The colours, weathering and overall 'picture' are just superb. I think you have captured that 'down at heel' light railway atmosphere perfectly. David 2

I'm pleased with the progress and how things are going. To be honest I can't rate Gordon Gravett's scenic books more highly. Well worth every penny and a great help in achieving the desired effect. Noticed your avatar by the way. Used to work in Burton Latimer home of Weetabix. The whole place had a distinctive aroma... More soon after a mammoth track cleaning session.... Cheers, Mark Mark, I'll have to get hold of one of Mr Gravett's books. It may be his theory and methods but you have certainly executed the techniques wonderfully. First class modelling Interesting on the Weetabix front! I've been seriously ill recently and spent an extended time in hospital. As part of my recovery, both when incarcerated and since I have returned home, I have been consuming masses of Burton Latimer's finest...... I don't dare tell you how many I have a day!! Anyway, enough of that aside! Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing more of your progress in due course. David
sb67
The layout's really looking good now Mark, it's got a lot of atmosphere. I'd echo your comments about the Modelling Grasslands book, but as David said, you've still got to put it into practice. Well done. 1722
You've done it again, Mark. First Juniper Hill and now Wadenhoe Road... You really are the master of portraying the 'middle of nowhere' quite superbly. Great work! Edited June 23, 2019 by 1722 Spelling 1

I guess that was the idea with WR to get that down at heal look of a light railway and portray openness. It has been a nice layout to build and now I can enjoy running trains and carry on adding small details and detailing the stock. Cheers, Mark

RMweb Gold 46444 Posted February 5, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 5, 2020 Today I've got Wadenhoe Road up and running. This has entailed a good clean of the track and servicing the locos. There's been a few scenery tweaks as well along the way. Wadenhoe is seen here on a works train about to depart to Barnwell. Later on Captain Fisher is seen on the first test train of the year at Wadenhoe Road. Wadenhoe Road will be appearing at NG North, Rainford on Saturday February 15th. Looking forwards to the expo and meeting noble brother modellers. More soon. Cheers, Mark
