Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May.

Open 10.00am to 5.00pm Saturday,  10.00am to 4.30pm Sunday

Admission: Adults: £8,   Under 14s: Free (when accompanied by a paying adult)

Hot and cold refreshments and food is available throughout the day in the venue, including a bar serving a selection of bottled and draught Real Ales.

Mickleover Model Railway Group is proud to announce it will be holding its 39th annual Derby model railway exhibition on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May at The Roundhouse, Derby. Bringing together a wide selection of high quality layouts and exhibits from across the country, they will cover British, European and American outline in a variety of scales.

The show is once again being held in the former North Midland Railway locomotive workshops, built in 1839, it is currently Grade II* listed and is the oldest surviving railway roundhouse in the world. Now part of Derby College, the building has been fully restored and is a modern events venue. This means the exhibition is held in a true railway location!

Situated adjacent to Derby railway station, The Roundhouse is easily accessible by public transport or car, full directions and maps are on the club’s website.

This will be the fifth exhibition the Group has held at The Roundhouse and it is now very much the home of the Derby show and continues in its enlarged and expanded format using three areas at the venue. This means the whole of the available facility is used for the Derby Model Railway Exhibition and will be filled with (model) railways in a railway venue!

LAYOUT LIST LATER - It looks like the new software has corrupted the listing and it lost all fomatting.

After the small matter of Simons wedding we can get back to the preparing Charwelton for its second outing under its new guise. We are looking forward immensely to the show, meeting up with friends and playing trains. To get a flavour of the layout pick up a copy of the next BRM. If you do come see us please say Hi!

I'll be back again this year helping out on Troutbeck bridge, last time I was here there was a bar, quiet  civilized, many a pleasant hour propping up the corner of the bar with Roger Nicholls, discussing all things railways, just one small request could you make sure there's more beer mats, we've usual lots of layouts to plan!!!

All

Sorry for the lack of updates - whilst I have been away sorting out Dad's affairs (RIP aged 92) the rest of the Club have been working hard on the preparations and as far as we know, everything is going according to plan - except we don't have a plan ! Actually that's not quite true as a plan of the building can be done by drawing around a plate on a piece of paper - then divide it up into segments and the resulting drawing goes in the show guide looking like a pizza !! At least the other two rooms have corners we can use to measure and set out the tables.

Will update layout and trade details later - need to get on with work now . . . . . .

Derby is a lovely show to wander round on Sunday morning. I don't worry too much about what the layouts are going to be, last year the Colonel Stephens celebration was brilliant.

I have just been to check on the 'Beast' and it's still asleep in its lair!

I'm sure we can rouse it in the morning though and then unleash it in derby!!!!!!

How come the show isn’t showing in the events calendar on here?

only spotted this post by chance or I’d have missed it

Planning on visiting Sunday, doing a possession train on Saturday night though so will have to see how tired I am!

Will be loading Much Murkle this evening ready for the journey northwards tomorrow.

Hopefully we will have some time to see some of the other fantastic layouts and pick up a few bits and pieces from the traders.

Looking forward to a great weekend playing trains with the team and having a chat with some fellow RMwebbers.

Yes Big Jim this was also noted by myself and informed the club personally to highlight the fact.

I'm not aware of this being mentioned to me and if you refer back to my posting yesterday you will note that I have been dealing with my Fathers affairs as he passed away last week at the age of 92 and so I had more important matters to deal with !

There are several other Club members who are here on RMweb and so if they had been made aware then I'm sure they could have added the show to the calendar.
