Yesterday's football result wasn't what I wanted, but it is what it is. Unfortunately, I do not have the influence at the FA to get them to change the match and we shouldn't consider cancelling the exhibition! This will now be the third time in the five RH events that we have had a football match at some point during the exhibition and we have coped with it in the past. It could have been worse and been a lunchtime kickoff! Your observation on the potential extra visitors is correct though. I seem to remember on one of the previous occasions it actually gained us some visitors as people called in on their way to the match.

Please excuse gate crashing this thread, but for anyone who wants to pop over to the other side of the station for a few minutes, there is a small, free attendance, exhibition (not models) in the Midland Hotel put on by the Midland Railway Society to mark the 175th anniversary of the formation of the MR. Some RM Webbers will be there (unless we're over at the model railway show, that is!).

Just noticed that a small correction is needed to the layout list. Much Murkle is 1930's GWR not BR. Good God, there would have to be a war on before the locals would accept any form of nationalisation in deepest Herefordshire.

Unfortunately Melangoose will not be a Derby this weekend. My wife has broken her ankle. Will be there in 2020.

Sorry to hear that - of course Alex knew but forgot to tell me . . . . . . . . . . .

I wonder who that might be :D - I'm sure you are on the list but unfortunately it's a very long list - especially for model shops / general traders. Those who are 'specialist traders' have a much shorter list - for example new this year Tim Horn Baseboards.

I guess you'll be just around the corner from us at 5.15pm tomorrow . . . . . . Good Luck to the local team !

I will indeed be at Pride Park on Saturday, but plan to visit the show on Sunday with my daughter. I will not be opening on Sunday - I rather think all the potential customers will be at the Roundhouse anyway.

I returned home from this great show just 2 hours ago and my time inside the Derby Roundhouse was enjoyed greatly with some cracking layouts to view - especially 'Charwelton In The 80's', Millsbridge (N Gauge),  'Burton On Trent', 'Ryburgh', 'Kingsbey', plus several others in a exhibition venue full of fellow railway modellers. I travelled there and back by train (Only a twenty minute journey from Chesterfield) - with the outward journey on a packed 4-car Voyager unit with Leeds Utd fans also heading to Derby - I'm a Sheffield Wednesday fan and we have a big rivalry with Leeds, so I had to keep very quiet!

I am very much looking forward to this show again in 2020!

Another great show. Particularly enjoyed some of the "continental" layouts (that's defining "continental" the Continental Modeller way), especially Red Hook Bay, Redwing, Pottendorf, Salsdorf. Among the British layouts, in addition to those mentioned by sammyboy—especially Ryburgh—I'd give a mention to Much Murkle.

Excellent show, though it didn't take very long to get crowded.

Picked up one layout for South Notts for 2020 and two for 2021, so useful with my show manager's hat on.

General standard excellent.  I just wish I could get one of my three layouts in (and no overnights to pay for mine, hint hint).

Two points as a pedestrian- it might be useful to see if one of the turnstiles at the far end of the Roundhouse site could be opened, and- any chance of asking British Rail (or whoever runs the station) to make access easier over the footbridge for those walking from the bus station?  Fort Knox is easier to access than that footbridge was today, or perhaps I talked to the wrong person- no ticket, no access.

I believe the  bridge isn’t a right of way.... it's a good old fashioned railway station footbridge (I’m sure the Midland Railway would have posted beautifully worded notice to this end back in the day) ...as far as bus passengers are concerned - the best course of action is probably catching the bus that serves Pride Park from the bus station. It’s a quick ride because it’s the F1 ;)

Having just looked up the F1 the bus service map isn't very helpful, and the nearest marked stop (S5 on the timetable) is well out of sight of the Roundhouse and on the opposite side of a dual carriageway.  It also appears that the path then brings you to the locked turnstile unless there was another gate open somewhere at the back of the car park.

From the turnstile taking the path out to the left would bring you under the A6 and the railway and to the bus station.

Just a thought for some signposting for next year.

Les - thanks for your kind comments about the show which I will pass on to the Exhibition Manager later today. I also note the difficulties you had accessing the site and will take that up with the College authorities to see what we can do in future years.

A couple of points (not grumbles) The road into Pride Park isn’t a duel carriage way. Near the first roundabout recesses are provided to aid safer crossing. I don’t disagree with you that it’s not ideal (having to walk around the perimeter and then some more is frustrating I’ve done it myself) but I add this information for the sake of accuracy. It’s the best advice I can offer.

Always a good show to attend and spent a few hours this morning making a few purchases and enjoying the layouts.   Troutbeck Bridge in particular caught my eye ; I seem to remember it being in one of the magazines but I'm at a loss to remember which one and when.  Perhaps someone can jog my memory .

Anyway great venue and an excellent show all round as usual. A big well done to the Mickleover chaps.

Kind Regards,
