D9001
Just bought a couple of the Esso tank wagons with the “Dalkeith Oil Test Well” markings on them. I read that the Oil well was opened at Darcy’s Farm near Dalkeith in ‘39 but how long was it open and would many of these wagons have been seen on the Waverley? Would it be a few or a trainload?
'CHARD
Now there's a question. I'll be good for a spot of research later this evening....

D9001
Thanks for the responses, greatly appreciated. Since first posting I've gradually built up a decent short rake of these wagons over the last 10 weeks, all sourced from that well known auction site. What has been interesting is that as well as the Hornby version I have been able to buy several of the Bachmann versions and never paid more than £11.49 including postage for them and yet several sellers have had their Bachmann versions advertised at anything between £20 and a whopping £37 plus postage for all that time. £37 !!!
