Pins are needed to secure the correctly oriented screwlink, as to Porcy's fix for the OP's question.

Then you need to cut off the pin head as it is oversized and solder that side, so why not use plain rod to start with.

I only ask the question as this is how I assemble Masokits screw link couplings.

Two second job to spin up your pin

in your most convenient twirly/spinny thing.

Quick rub with a file too reduce head profile,

size to prototype too reduce moaned gripes.
