wilsoh
Hi All, I have recently been gifted a Trix-Twin "Britannia Loco. Can it be configured to run on Hornby Dublo 3-Rail Track? Regards Howard Wilson Cleveland Model Railway Club
60021 Pen-y-Ghent
I had one years ago (early 60s) which I ran on my Hornby Dublo 3 rail set. (Still got it! And a Standard 5.) I later configured it to run on 2 rail. So unless something significant changed on the chassis then yes it can.
sagaguy
Yes,it can be but you are going to need the centre rail p/up shoes & spring that fits in the metal channel under the loco. The only supplier of these is the TTRCA but you have to be a member to buy the spares. Il Grifone
Trix connected the centre rail pickup to the chassis (it was their common return, unlike Dublo which used the running rails. This meant that there was a short circuit through the couplings. Later Trix stock had plastic couplings which avoided this (as also did Dublo). Apart from this, there should be no problem. (I'm assuming a later two rail version as the earlier ones were already 3 rail - the very first had the coarse Trix wheels I believe which are definitely not Dublo compatible.) You can fit the proper Trix pickup but I would make my own and fit it to the tender.
