Beaneyryan
I am currently making a model based on Huddersfield goods shed, a key area of the shed was the use of its wagon hoist. I have managed to find photos of the hoist but unfortunately I have been unable to get any photos of the track that would have been raised by the mechanism on the hoist, does anyone out there know of how it was operated and what the track bed was on the hoist? freebs
When you say Huddersfield, do you mean the MASSIVE warehouse opposite the station?
RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted May 21, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 21, 2019 There is, somewhere, maybe hereabouts, a discussion on the said wagon hoist, ISTR someone was building a model of it also. Maybe somebody with more computer literacy than me could find it? Mike.
RMweb Gold 4630 Posted May 21, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 21, 2019 There is some information on the Huddersfield goods warehouse on this website, if you've not already come across it. http://www.lostrailwayswestyorkshire.co.uk/Heaton Lodge Stalybridge.htm

mac1960
I lived, and have been based in Huddersfield for a good chunk of my life, and I do remember the wagon lift in operation in the mid 60,s. There was not a track bed but a steel frame with rails on it from memory, but it was a long time ago, and I think it sat within a well of cast iron but I can not swear to it. There maybe some photos in some of the local rail books I have, and I will have a look, but I know there are no close ups. Mac
