The 25 has been reconstructed and will be eventually transferred to the depot of Ray for a sound chip . . . . . .

The Class 33 saw it identification added today but will be toned down in the next day or so, then rebuilt and once again it will be transferred to the depot of Ray for it's sound chip but once again that will be in the new year.

Both 25 & 33 looking rather nice, looks like 33056 seems to have had a bit of a rough shunt!

When I purchased the Class 33 it had a couple of broken buffers so the replacement ones will be fitted on the rebuild and that should straighten everything up. I will replace the gears in it as this will save me doing it at a later date.

This morning I started putting in the windows on the MK2's and out with the airbrush to do some snowploughs for the Class 33 & 37 that will need to be fitted at some stage in the next few days.

I've got a pair of these from a 37 going begging if anyone wants them. Send me a PM and I'll send them out when I can get to a post office.

It's been relatively quiet on the modelling front over the festive period but some bits arrived for the Class 33 this morning and these were duly fitted, I don't know what's going on with that front handrail but the photo makes it look a lot worse than it really is.

A few more bits that will require painting i.e. the lamp brackets & handrails and then a spot of weathering around the roof fan.

I think the handrails on the 33 are plastic which was a and move by Heljan. Mine turned up with a broken door handle so I ordered a spare from Gaugemaster which came as plain plastic with no metallic coating. What do they expect us to do!  Again poor quality control by one fo the major manufacturers.

I replaced all mine with nickel silver wire, fine now.

I bought a load of JLTRT castings (from MM1) but have never got round to fitting them. Apart from being fragile, the Heljan ones look better I decided in the end.

 Chaps

I have to agree that the Heljan ones look cheap so I will probably copy the angles and replace them with some nickel wire.

If i may offer one bit of help? The whites on the blinds need to be a tad wider. It would make it look even better. The handrail is hardly noticable until you mention it..

Lovely job on the plates.

You are right about the blinds and I will have another attempt to making them wider....The handrails will probably bug me knowing that they could be better.

Sorry,  you lost me on "Lovely job on the plates."

I found this surprisingly tricky. Incidentally the ketchup foil was a mistake as it completely blocks light!

I would try some old cotton sheet. The original blinds were made of a material (probably linen based as they frayed on the edges). They had a 'rubberised' print on them. The repeated rolling made the printing crack like a shellac finish.

Hope this helps?

When I purchased the original Class 33 (this one) the body and some of it's internal components had seen better days, a lot of the parts were broken off or damaged..... Anyway, when it was reconstructed I have replaced the original lightening with some very small LED's that have been placed behind the panel and covered over with black tak.

The inside of the centre glass panel was covered with insulation tape and the two bands cut out but in between the centre glass and the body I have fitted some thin grease proof paper as this allows the light through from the LED's.

Well I haven't done anything with the Class 33 blinds as of yet but they are definitely on my list of to do things this week. In the meantime I have got on with the MKII's and they are nearing to finishing with couplings to be added and some paint touch ups here and there.

I still have a couple of Pullman coaches to start as well as 2 x DMU's to start / complete.
